Here is a tentative list of Japanese units for my mod.

http://stephane.f.david.free.fr/CivMod/Japan_UnitList.htm

1) Feedback! If you have better ideas or suggestion to fill some of the gap.

2) Translation: I'd like to have the name for all the units in Japanese.

3) Missing units: If you are a unit maker and feel like filling some gaps!

I miss ancient Japanese spearmen / swordmen / archer, the cavalry line could be expanded a bit, there's no WWI ships or WWII cruiser and few battleships, no modern ships, to little artillery... Also, the settler / worker line is a bit poor.
And to finish, for modern infantry I've used "futurist" units like the starship trooper or the Shinra marine... Far from perfect!

Just click the link for pictures

It looks like quite a list Steph! I'd love to see more Japanese units too.

Perhaps these terms might be of some use to you:

重騎兵: Juukihei - Heavy Cavalry
軽騎兵: Keikihei - Light Cavalry
弓騎兵: Kyuukihei - Cavalry Archer
歩兵: Hohei - Infantry
剣客: Kenkaku - Swordsman
射手: Ite (or "Shusha") - Archer

"Kihei" (騎兵) just means "cavalry" in general.

Thank! It could indeed be useful
