This is a two player PBEM game featuring Eric A's Typhoon of Steel (TOS) version 3.07. This is not the current version of this excellent adaptation of the Conquest's Scenario.
Japan: Sully
Allies: Techguy
This PBEM battle is the second between us and is called, IOWA, after the famous US class of Fast Battleships.
The Iowa-class battleships were the biggest, the most powerful, and the last battleships built for the United States Navy. Four were built in the early 1940s for World War II. The Iowas were unique for several reasons. First, these ships were designed as "fast" battleships, able to rely on an even mix of speed and firepower and capable of sailing at the same speed as the carrier force. Secondly, although they had to be designed to fit through the Panama Canal, they took that to the limit with less than a foot (30 cm) to spare on either side. Third, all four of the Iowa class battleships were recommissioned and refitted in the 1980's.
As the IJN player...I hope to sink all four this time!
As I mentioned..this is the second PBEM between I and Techguy. The first one ended with me conceding. The initial phase went well. But the whole game turned in the PI where I lost a battle over Manila. And had nothing left to counterattack with the next turn. As a result...TG was able to fly in aircraft that then threatened all the sealanes approaching the PI as well as southern China and SE Asia. He was able to bomb anything of importance with impunity. Suffice to say...I won't make that same mistake.
