Is there any point to running such a competition here this year? Perhaps. Although the doping scandal has really tainted the sport it's also thrown the field wide open for victory. Could be an exciting tournament. However we only have about 12 hours to pull it together...

I have some rules I've inherited from MCDread and Goob -- participants in last year's competition: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=122623.

He's been disqualified under suspician of drug use, unfortunately. I would have picked him too.

All the guys who are crossed-out are DQ'd. It's truly scandalous.

According to kronic, Astana-Wurth has been officially DQ'd. None of the riders on that team are available.

Fortunately all picks submitted so far omitted them.

Yes -- I'm putting together a spreadsheet right now. I'll have it posted by Monday and start regular updates at that time.

Here are the teams. Only four participants is fewer than I'd have liked, but that's cool. Each has a different "star rider" and strategy.

Here's the BIG chart -- includes all point categories. I've filled in the results for stage P. I won't be using the Blue titled fields until the end of the tour, but I've included them in this PNG to show you how I'll be keeping track.

So far no one is wearing the Green (Sprinting) or Polka Dot (Climbing) jerseys -- unless I'm mistaken (which is possible. I'm a dumb American.)

Here's a better example of what I'll be posting day to day. This includes only the info relevant to the stages of the tour that have been raced so far.

So far ChrTh looks like a freaking genius -- he picked all three of the top racers in Stage P for a total of 12 points. That's out of a possible 13. (He could only have done better by ALSO choosing Rabobank's Joost Posthuma, a five pointer who won the right to wear the White jersey tommorow.)

Team Mojo and Team Dell are tied with 1 point each, for picking 3rd place David Zabriskie.

Team Surtur hasn't yet made a point.

Hushovd has also the green jersey but Hincapie is wearing it.

I don't think that counts as there are still no sprinting points (as of before the start of today's stage 1)

The green jersey is for points, there's no such thing as sprinting points. Mountain stages earn points the same way as sprint finishes. Hushovd is the green jersey leader, because with one stage only that he won, he's obviously the leader on points, with 15 so far.

I think that this is the best interpretation. I jumped the gun on awarding the jersey points -- they get awarded today. Since Hincapie actually physically wore the Green jersey, he gets those points (today.)
