As you can see on screenshot modifiers like open borders 25%,trade route 25% were not working on Alexander for me in this game making it impossible to win cultural vict.

There's not enough information here to tell why he's at 84%, vs the others at 93% or 118% (93%+25%). What are the players ideologies, who has what wonders, etc. One thing that could account for the 9% difference is if you have a 25% modifier vs. him and he has a 34% modifier vs. you, such as Cultural Revolution (in Order) or Broadcast Towers (+34% tourism).

In any event, it looks like you need to spawn a Great Musician or two and send them on a concert tour to pop you over the top. Can you buy any with faith any time soon?

84% was 25% open borders,25% trade route and 34% both order,every1 is the game was Order. You can see on the screenshot how every modifier is applied on other civs but on Alex I am not even getting full 902,culture/tourism gap was like 40k since modifiers to him werent applied whole game so...,I won with diplo in the end since I needed to play over 600 turns more even with few more musicians for cult.vict and Alex had almost completed science vict.

No we can not see it on the screenshot, gotta mouse-over the percentage.

If the 84% of Alex was 25+25+34 (OB+TR+Order), isn't the real question then, how you had 93% to some others? There is nothing in the game that gives +9%, so there were definitely other modifiers involved (as Browd pointed out, 34%-25%=9%).

What I am seeing here is:
You surely got the lvl3 Tenet "Dictatorship of the Proletariat: +34% Tourism to civilizations that have less Happiness." And you might be happier as everyone else, except Alex. Also you either lack OB or don't have a trade route (-25%) with the 3 civs that have 93%.

So, if there is a bug, then it must be the +34% from being happier than a civ not showing up when you mouseover on their percentage. I'm somewhat confident though, that it does show up ;)

Yes ur right,+93% are ones without trade route and yes Alex always somehow has more happiness then me with his ~30 cities but the problem for me is my tourism is +902 and I have +84% modifier with Alex and I am only getting +829 while with other civs I am getting 1700+.Either the modifier for Alex is not applying or am I missing something? :)

Ahh.... ok, got ya.

So thinking about this...
I thought, maybe because his culture is higher than your tourism, that the whole value is halved (culture is supposed to counter tourism), so:

902/2 = 451
451*1.84 = 829

This seems correct and intended to me, albeit it doesn't really say anywhere that is is halved when the other civ has more culture than you tourism.

Interesting,so Alex was one big warmonger in this game with average culture until capturing Egypt's capital then all of the sudden hes very strong on culture has 1/3 of the world, number 1 on happiness, number 1 on science and getting to me on tourism(to me still looks like a bug, since it doesnt say anywhere why, check the save u might see something i dont).Only thing he lacked was gpt for some reason.Makes sense :crazyeye:

Edit:Also I just remembered my influence over China was decreasing every time they were in golden age, makes sense since +20% culture and if Alex has more culture then my tourism why doesnt it shows as decreasing.Modifiers for China were working even when it was decreasing they show correctly, but in this case something is bugged game is telling me my influence grows but its unlikely since I am not getting the right number of tourism.China had pretty strong culture for little while and ur theory wasnt applied then so must be a bug or something else.

I think it's going to take a while for all of us to figure out these mechanics.

If you go to the Influence by Player tab of the Culture screen, you will see that your +84% influence on Greece does consist of open borders (+25%), trade route (+25%) and shared ideology (+34%), but if you shift the drop-down box to view it from his direction, his base output of influence is lower (764), but his influence on you gets +118% (the same 84% plus 34% for having greater happiness than you), so his adjusted tourism towards you is 1665, which is greater than your culture per turn (1156).

Did Greece build the Great Firewall? That would negate the Internet's doubling of your Tourism towards him, which would explain why your Tourism per turn vs. Greece is roughly half of what it is toward each other civ. I suspect that's about all that's going on here.

Yea his 764+118% is 1665 but my 902+84% is 829.

Nice one,I didnt knew they changed Great Firewall, would be nice if it was shown in modifier tab thou.Makes cult.vict. very tricky if they build it. or in this case undoable.

Worth noting that (902 / 2) * 1.84 = 829. Pretty sure he just built the Great Firewall. It's awfully difficult to overcome that without being able to ship a few Great Musicians over to finish the job, unfortunately.

Alex got the best of me dam him for taking Egypt's wonder mint,so I bought/used spies to get easiest way out or the way he was going at first.Diplo Vict.It was an interesting game at some point it was possible for me to have all friends, but Shaka Zulu was public enemy nm1,then Alex and after it China and somehow Alex got most of it.I liberated most Siam cities from China and with little nuclear wpns from both China and Alex,China got the worst of it.Everyone forgot about Alex and was marching on China. :)

Global Politics does show that Alex has the Great Firewall, blocking your +100% Internet boost ("Negates the tourism bonus from other players' Internet technology"). Mystery solved. :goodjob:
