So, admittedly, my last terrain pack was just a recycling of some junk I had laying around on the computer. Just something to ease the modding withdrawal pains...

But after playing my TP3 quite a bit, I started to dislike some of the heavy texturing. As the game went along, I felt all the busy-ness was making my eyes too tired. Yeah, I know, as if staring at the screen for hours isn't bad enough. So, this time around, I set out with the goal to be a bit cleaner and smoother, closer to the original Civ3 terrain.

Here's what we got.

*LM Sea and Ocean are duplicates of original terrain files.
*Volcanos snow is also a duplicate of original volcanos file.

Hi, Wolfshade. Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you like the tundra. It's a little repetitive, but I think the pattern looks good too.

These are all very beautifully done. Look to be compatible with Rhye's, Ares', etc. All could see service as LM terrains with those sets. I agree with Wolfshade on the tundra. Desert dunes that don't make tile edges obvious are extremely difficult & the previews show the set is very accomplished. Also the patchy grass (plains?) + pine forests would make an excellent taiga for transition between tundra & grasslands.

DL'd of course.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Blue Monkey. I have a few remarks of my own, but after this message:

I apologize, once again to Balthasar. Once again, I somehow forgot to properly credit him in my thanks and credits. (Though, maybe he was thankful that his name wasn't attached to the butchering.) A few parts of my irrigation files came Balthasar's Mediterranean crops irrigation. Additionally, the tundra irrigation included, I think, came from Goldfool. I appreciate the work both these graphic artists have contributed and never intended to leave them out.

Now, to tp5. The one thing that the great terrain packs have which mine lack is cohesiveness. Oh, I like my work, some more than others, but I personally feel every set I've made, excluding the Lego Dream terrain, has lacked cohesion. And it always comes down to the same two things - forests and irrigation. I just always hoped someone would swap in or out some preferable overlays on their personal set.
(I realize most people won't use a gravestone as a mine.)
Maybe one day I'll get things right...

I'm pleased with the tundra, but quite unsatisfied with the tundra pines, though I haven't seen a lick of either in my present game. I tried to think they were okay, but I guess I was lying to myself. The desert is not bad in game, though looks repetitious in the editor. Your taiga idea would make a nice addition to a map, I'm sure. But, I've changed my tune from the past and now mostly just play random maps which preclude the use of LM terrain. I'll look forward to yours, though.

Of course, anyone can feel free to further enhance or make whatever changes they'd like. Here are the original tundra and plains terrain images, if someone wants to try to make use of them.

I'm still tweaking my personal nature game, as Nature is out of control. Last night, after killing probably between 200-300 sharks and whales, I started my beach invasion. Here are more terrain previews.

There are a few small problems including shadows, but overall I find the terrain pleasant. No eyestrain I felt on Tp3, so mission accomplished on that.

Thanks, Ares. The dock isn't a resource; it's on the delta rivers file. I got it from the Dundjinni game site listed in the credits. The original png file is attached.

Thanks for checking it out and commenting, ronning. Your trees have been a part of all my sets, so thanks for that too. Moreover, you were the first to open my eyes to using other transparent colors than just the magenta and green.
