Here's the scoop: after a brief blitz of the Iroquois territory, I gained a Great Leader. At great expense to myself, I rushed the Leader to my home continent where he would rush the Cure for Cancer. I unloaded him from the transport, told him to go to my capital, but when he got there, he started doing his little fortification animation, and then dropped dead! #$@$%^!! Upon inspection of said city, apparently I had a mech inf in the city, but the thing is, said mech was not visible from the main map (the city looked deserted), but it was only visible from the city screen. I could not give orders to this unit. I shrugged it off as a temporary bug, but several turns later when some workers tried to return to my capital after cleaning up some polution, they too dropped dead! I eventually had to send some armor into *MY CITY* where it finally destroyed the rogue mech infantry. Is this a bug or a feature? I ask because during the course of the game, I had a notorious habit of breking all my treaties, and this unit turned rogue after I had just nuked the Iroquois after I had just signed a treaty with them :D ,so I thought maybe units had a certain chance of rebelling if I acted naughty

your people turn on you when you nuke a lot

I think it s a bug previous to 1.29, do you use 1.29 patch ? It make no sense att all that your units rebel against you even if you nuke a lots. Unless it is another non-written rule by firaxis.

Supposedly this was fixed in the 1.29 patch. Firaxis apparently treated it as a bug.

I have the latest Mac version, which I think is less than 1.29 :/

It is a bug, i think you have 1.21 and firaxis said they wont do 1.29 for MAC, talk about service. Firaxis have a big inside problem.

Firaxis loves to take out functions with patches.

That was not our decision. MACSoft does the MAC patches for Infogrames and they were the ones who decided they did not have the time to port the 1.29 patch.

As far as the actual point of this thread, this was a bug and, as such, had to be fixed. It was caused by cultural borders expanding and triggering a goody hut that had a barbarian unit standing on top of it. If the goody hut turned into a city, the barbarian unit remained (it could upgrade, but you couldn't control it, which explains the Mech Infantry) and would later kill your units when they tried to enter the city. It was in no way a removed feature.

I didn't know you could get cities from goody huts in Civ3?

So, apparently you had a native unit that upgraded through the ages and was very eco-sensitive.

What was the unit's motto, "Kill people, not trees!"?

Firaxis never has made any patches for the MAC, that was farmed out to another company. In fact I don't believe they ever made a Mac version themselves.

If you felt you deserved a raise, would you approach one of your boss' suppliers? Mac Soft decided that they weren't going to make enough money by creating new patches for Civ. They have a right to pay their bills as well.

The mac people will probably get a 1.25 patch or something which only include bug fixes and not the updated editor. (the editor was the most time consuming part of the last patch).

Maybe you are right, i look on the civ3 package about system requirement and they say nothing about mac, only about pentium.
It is a under contract to preserve them for giving services to mac user.

Anyway i have a pentium 3 450 mz and i dont have any problem, but it not fair for mac user ( i guess they know their system is not realy for gamer).

Where did you hear MacSoft's decision? Last we heard a 1.29f was under consideration.
