In my modded game, I made the Mech Infantry able to carry three foot units. But now,
it seemes that the Mech Infantry cannot load into any sort of transport. Is this because transports cannot be loaded into transports? If so, than that is a sad limitation of the game engine. Also, is there a way around this limitation?

Thanx,
MM

EDIT: 600 posts! :king:

Yes, but on the other hand you can use this trick to make carrier based/ land based aircraft, or prevent some units from loading in any ship.

Does the AI properly use this method? Why not just unselect 'Load' for aircraft to keep them off of carriers instead? Unless you referring to being able to load aircraft onto a non-Naval Carrier transport :)

Using the Airlift ability could be a workaround, if you are willing to use that (or if it works, I would think it should). I'm guessing if it does, it would airlift the loaded units inside also. Of course, that means that your mech infantry would not be able to storm the beaches and unload it's infantry cargo (which is most of the fun).

BTW, does the AI load infantry into the mech infantry units and move them around? Or does it ignore this ability?

Tom,

It is a sad proven fact that the AI will only do things that are hardcoded in the game. In fact, I have never seen the AI use land transports before. I wish that could be changed.

I believe that you can airlift the Mech Infantry. Let me check... yup, you can. Just the fun of unloading your Mech Infantry carrying thousands upon thousands of troops cannot be had. Too bad.

Another question though: in the editor, does the flag "veteran land units" or "Sea units" mean that that improvement can also upgrade units? The barracks is like that, so i'm guessing i'm right.

Thanx, MM

Yep that's correct.
