Treasure Fleets Disappeared?

I’ve done a search for treasure fleets and I cannot find this question anywhere, so I’ll ask.

Unlike many here, I actually had no problem generating treasure fleets or getting to the goal of 30 in the age. Here’s the problem I encountered. I hit 30 treasure fleets which completed the legacy. This also triggered the end of the age countdown. I had a few spare fleets on the way. During the countdown, I converted them in my homeland, just to get the gold. Didn’t need them for the accomplishment.

Except midway through the turn countdown, I found my legacy was no longer complete. Even though I had cashed in 30 fleets and then more, my counter stood at 22 and I no longer had credit for the golden age/completed accomplishment.

Can anyone help me understand what happened here? Is this a bug or something that I’m missing?

I don't think that is supposed to happen. There is no mechanism I know of which could reduce the number of accumulated treasure fleet points. Also, once milestones have been achieved, they should stay that way, even if you somehow drop below the threshold.

Sounds very much like a bug to me. Maybe you accidentally loaded an old save? Or somehow else got reverted to an earlier state?

I never load or save except at the end of a night’s session. I haven’t gone back to check the autosaves to see if I can document this, but it very definitely happened without any reloads or crashes.

I know the military legacy path keeps the highest point achieved. For example if you had 8/12 in exploration and one of your distant lands settlement gets converted, it will then show 7/12 on the legacy screen but you still get the two legacy points. This happened in my current game.

Hopefully the same will happen with economic legacy for @DaveD22

Did you get three points in the next age?

Just two

I’m afraid I can’t offer an answer but only a similar experience. I completed all steps on the Exploration Scientific legacy pathway very comfortably buf on transition to the modern age only received 2/3 legacy points. I tried replaying the final few turns of the age to see if that would make a difference but no. I was playing without any mods so assumed was a bug.

In your situation, does the civ or leader you’re playing grant a bonus towards generating Treasure Fleets? I ask because in my situation I was playing with the Abbasids who provide bonuses towards district adjacency which is a direct requirement for the scientific legacy path. Perhaps there is a bug where a civ/leader ability or bonus helps trigger the steps of a legacy path but is not included in the final accounting.

I have an update. I can 100% confirm that the legacy paths DO go backwards for some reason, with an asterisk.

Again, this was in the exploration age. I completed cultural and economic first. The third path was science. About 80% of the way through the age I got my 5th district with 40+ assets. It showed the path completed. That was 3 of 4 legacy lines complete.

For funsies, I spammed some distant land settlers in the last few turns of the age, settled a couple of junk towns overseas, and completed the military quest for the grand slam. Except when I clicked through the achievements to verify, science had reverted to 4 of 5 40+ districts completed, not 5 of 5.

Two things:

1. The city that gave me the 5th hex when I completed science was in revolt because happiness issues. It may have nerfed the hex.

2. On MW’s advice above, I checked the number of legacy achievement points I got at the end of the age. Science showed 3 just like everything else. I had 3 military, 3 science, 3 cultural, 3 economic, 0 wildcard. I assume this means it counted all paths as completed even though science said 4/5. I’m pretty sure this did NOT happen in my original run-through where it reset the economic line. There I had 2 Econ and 1 wildcard.

Either way, it certainly pulls back completed quests.

One last detail in case it matters. Though the bar at the bottom of the science quest screen read 4/5 complete, it did NOT give me the option to track quest, as normally happens when a quest is not completed. There was simply no option to click that button.

I think going backwards (but preserving milestones reached) is the normal, intended effect.
If it measures the current amount. (Sci Legacy in Ant/Exp, Econ in Antiquity, Military in Ant/Exp, Cultural in Exp/Modern.)

The other Legacies measure things you HAVE done (as opposed to the current state of the game) so they should never go backwards in any way. Economic Exploration Legacy going from 30->22 is a bug.
