Troop Movement Sub-Turn Request

Since we have a lot of troops to move, I'd like to help shorten the turnchat time by organizing our troops so that furiey doesn't have to run around looking for them. Just about all of our troops are on rails, so they can be moved at 0-cost.I am going to group them by elite, and vet. Any injured troops will stay where they are. There's a couple of other things - All non-wonder cities that belonged to the Aztecs (excluding Iroquois ones) can be abandoned. A foreign worker can be used to build a colony on the spices if we wish to abandon Niagara Falls, and another city, like Grand River. Although, I would be just as content with doing just troop movement.

May I remind everyone that the preturns have been taking 3-4 hours to complete. This will help to sort out our units and make them easier to find for an upgrade, and moving. The last turnchat took 19 1/2 hours (20 if you throw in the pre-preturn warmup - i.e., build queues). Our troops are also on rails, so no movement points will be used. Injured units will be placed in barracks to heal.

It would be double work though, for me to find the troops to move, then for Furiey to move them. Besides, the game's almost over. We even made some exceptions to the rules at the end of DG2.

It would be an interesting challenge too.

Hmm,
Article K "All irreversible game actions must progress during a public turnchat, while reversible game actions(i.e. build queues) that adhere to legal instruction can be prepared offline." Seems to meet that requirement.

Article M "Commission of any game action by any person other than the Designated Player while carrying out their duties that is not instantly reversible without reloading the save is strictly forbidden." Seems to meet that standard.

No mention made of a person OTHER THAN THE DP playing actions in the main save that can be reversed.

Having said that, I hope this doesn't happen. Why? Couple of reasons.

First, this is an interesting question that probably should have been made in the Judiciary thread as a JR request. It's already been determined that two sitting justices can decide a case. The Citizen's sub-forum is NOT the place for it.

Second, in general, this is a bad idea. Very bad. Very, very bad. We now get the wonderful concept of people OTHER than the DP carrying out pre-turn actions. Who can do it? How do you avoid concurrency issues? No - this is a idea that without planning and coordination will result in problems that we don't need.

Third, and I'm going to sound like some other people here, this does violate the spirit of the ruleset. The people choose a very restrictive, defined ruleset. I didn't like it, and other decisions that were made, but have accepted and supported the results of all decisions that went against my viewpoint. Now guess what - I going to do my best to make sure you live with that. DG5 - try a nice, relaxed ruleset, m'kay?

Well, then, I guess I'll have to make a 25,000 word instruction then. ;)

"Move tank #1 here"
"Move tank #2 here"
"Move tank #3 here"
"Move tank #4 here"
"Move tank #5 here"
.
.
.
and so on.

Not a bad idea!! :crazyeye: Just hope nobody gets confused..:D

Apparently, that's only what our rules will allow.

But, Ravens - Making a JR would have been pointless. Why? Because the turnchat is in a few days, and it takes FOREVER for the judicary to get moving. The game ends in less than a week. All this is, is Moving tanks on rails. Completely reversable.

Whether anyone likes it or not, I'm gonna organize the troops to simply save time, and try to prevent things like 18 hour turnchats. Think of it as a continuation of the last turnchat, since all the movements haven't been done yet.

CC me if you wish, but at this rate, it won't even matter. The Judiciary is too slow, and the same will be over in less than a week. The reason why I didn't organize the troops last time was because IT WAS 4:30 AM IN THE MORNING! We aren't robots that stare at the screen 24/7. ;) Besides, I had things to do later in the day, and needed sleep. No one else was in the chatroom. (Tao was busy eating and stuff). It will also save me from writing 102 extra lines of instructions.

Also, this *IS* a discussion on a pre-preturn. What difference does it make if Furiey, or I move a tank on rails? None, since it's STILL ON THE RAILS AND HASN'T USED UP ANY MOVEMENT POINTS AND I DISCUSSED IT WELL AHEAD OF TIME!!!!!!!! This will save Furiey lots of time that she would spend looking for those troops. I even emailed her about it.

Hmm..I am part robot, becuase I can do the robot...*does the robot* Anyway, kind of mean that are Judiciary is slow...man if that was in the real world..AHHH!!

But it's fine with me for you to change or move troops...I hope that's all you are going to do..:D
