Tropico 4 Modern Times challenges

Im in doubt wether to purchase the Tropico 4 Modern Times add-on. On the internet I can not find any community-made challenges or scenario's (something like the GotM on Civ). Are those challenges or extra missions only accessible through the ingame menu? Is there a big user community? What's the quality of the extra missions?

Tropico challenges... not a bad idea. It could be interesting to see what different directions players took islands in. I'm not sure how competitive it would be, but it would be neat for the alternate realities.

I'm not aware of any myself, though. I mainly played Tropico back before I had the Internet, and haven't really played the newer ones (just picked up 3 recently), so I wouldn't have been aware of such options even if they did exist.

Tropico 4 was too easy, and the island creator was as broken and useless as in Tropico 3.
The campaign was fun, but far too easy, and it had zero replay value due to a functionally missing random island creator.

Hmm, but modern times do look interesting, if only it came with a proper random island creator, I would buy it.
Edit: Sandbox was what the original Tropico did well IMHO, and it is almost completely dead in T3+4. No challenges and boring maps.
