Report has it that Tibetans are to use the upcoming New Year to mourn those killed by evil Chinese troops during the riot last March. My impression was that as many Chinese civilians, if not more, were killed by the rioting Tibetans. It seems odd that Tibetans are always pictured as harmless victims here.

CHINA has boosted its security forces in Tibet and surrounding regions in anticipation of trouble as a movement to boycott new years celebrations gathers pace. Tibetans are set to begin festivities this week but many are likely to use the holiday period to mourn those killed in anti-government rioting across Tibet last March. China has all but closed Tibet to outside visitors since then and recently ordered its security forces to crush any signs of support for the Dalai Lama, as the tense 50th anniversary of another big anti-Chinese uprising nears in early March.
