Trouble with advanced start on Earth map

Im trying to start a game with the advanced start option on the Earth map. I select the advanced start option, but when I start, an ordinary game begins with a settler and warrior. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

On a side issue I've also tried playing the Giant Earth map, but it says I've been defeated as soon as I start.

Using Advanced Start on scenarios was changed in one patch or an other to stop people using it unless the scenario gave permission. You will need to open the world builder file in a text editor and switch it on.
