Goalposts? I'm sorry, but that is an incredible statement to make. For the past decade those on the left have been determined to make every thoughtless gesture by anyone tangentially associated with the right into some dog whistle, while the exact same thoughtless gestures by left wing figures attract no attention. I think it's equally, if not more likely, that a right-winger who's spent the past however long immersing himself amongst right-wing inhabitants of the social media platform he bought, coming in as a part of the new Trump adminstration, is doing it perfectly sincerely.
