Trump Indicted!

In simple words. The facts are not necessarily actual facts.
So if you (or I) make a point using a media source that turns out to be incorrect/wrong etc,
did WE lie? No.
2 things. I took care saying you told a lie. As in repeating one. I see that being different from being a liar.

Be specific for once. What did I post which you question being factual?

edit: you know what's funny to me. You don't trust "the media" but you are repeating politician's claims without skepticism.

"Funny" as in a sad state of affairs. Steve Bannon would be proud of you.

Biden wasn't exactly a celebrity (at least not in the way Obama and Trump were) and he still beat Trump in 2020
Biden certainly had a higher degree of fame, having been VPOTUS for Obama. He wasn't as famous as Trump, but by that point so many people were sick of Trump.
with all of his star power!
Like Biden, he will be more famous after 4 years as VPOTUS than any rando the Democrats can come up with.

People stayed home.

Many GOP states cut dems from the voter rolls during 2024

Fortunately Vance, like DeSantis, will suffer terribly from the fact that he is completely uncharismatic and just generally sucks

It will depend a lot on how energetically Trump supports him, I think. And I further think there are reasons for thinking Trump won't give him a full-throated endorsement: 1) in his heart he doesn't think anyone but himself is worthy to be president; 2) it's hard to stay in his good graces for long. So I think it's possible, that he may give him a tepid endorsement, if he gives him an endorsement at all; he might make a game of having other people suck up to him. And if Trump leaves him to his own charisma, Dems can have success against him, as Lex says.

But all of that is a long way in the future. We have a Trump presidency to endure first.

Wait. How come there is seven effing million less voters in 2024 than 2020 ?
Those numbers are a result of a quick Google search, so don't hesitate to double-check them. I think Bird is right; a lot of states purged voter rolls (because of the massif cheeting in 2020).

So the point is that Trump is an absolutely awful person but in a charismatic way?

Do you think Vance beats AOC? Cause I think its going to be Vance vs. AOC.

That is... of course... if Trump isn't dictator for life by then... which...

I doubt it but I also don't think AOC is gonna be the nominee in 2028, maybe ever.
I was talking to some relatives on a merged/conference call about a week ago, and one of them asked me who the Democrats had on deck to run in 2028. I mentioned Gavin Newsom and AOC and neither one of them had heard of either, so one of them asked me to describe who they were and what they were about. I first encouraged them to just Google them so they could see some pics, before describing them. For Cortez,I told them that all they had to type was "AOC" and she would come up. One of the relatives, a guy, upon seeing AOC's picture, immediately stated that she was "the one" and that she would win the election and that he would vote for her.

This particular relative is the kind of person that only votes sporadically... when he feels particularly motivated to do so. He snap-declared that he would vote for AOC, solely based on seeing her picture and without knowing anything else about her...

She can win.

or, those "voters" never existed in the first place. :p
(from the tinfoil hat brigade)
Of course they existed. Throwing around fake news and wishful thinking as facts says much more about you than the reality of US elections. The election tinfoil hat brigade is made up of idiots.

Some of them actually probably didn't exist.

Here's all I mean. It takes some real effort to keep voter rolls up to date. People move. People die. And they or their relatives rarely inform the county of that fact. Between 2020 and 2024, Republicans made considerable efforts to clean up voter rolls, out of this bizarre belief that these people who move or die still vote in a particular state. So a larger than usual number of names were struck from the voter rolls between 2020 and 2024.

Yes, but those same folks were likely also to be on other voter rolls in in other places. In any case, almost all people on voter rolls do exist, even if no longer at the original address. And yes, people do die.

Right, but being counted in two places means that one of those yous doesn't "exist" as a voter in the state you've left.

Idk, after thinking Bernie could win in 2020 and then seeing the primary voters pick Biden my faith has turned to ash.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I think the dominant coalition inside the Democratic Party (in the context of primary elections) doesn't want AOC, they want Sorkinist high-handed moderation, and the real-world failure of Sorkinist high-handed moderation seems to only make them double down on it.

I get that, but again... my relative pledged allegiance to AOC, simply based on seeing her picture. Think about AOC's picture and then think about Bernie's picture. I've said numerous times on these threads that Bernie's major problem wasn't so much that he is old, but rather that he looks old. AOC is youthful and vibrant. That alone is going to make her a much stronger candidate than Bernie. I kinda wish we'd had a full, open primary and she'd run this cycle. IIRC, she was technically too young to be POTUS, during the campaign, but would have been of age by the time of the election. I hope AOC doesn't end up like Hillary... missing her chance to run when the country needed her, only to be jilted by someone younger and shinier by the time she does decide to run.

EDIT: Checked it. Yep, she is old enough to be POTUS now. As a trivial aside TIL that AOC's birthday is just 3 days after mine:D She's a Libra! Hercules! Hercules! Hercules! I'm definitely voting for her now :p

Yes, all true
and the real-world failure of Sorkinist high-handed moderation seems to only make them double down on it.
Hassan Minhaj IIRC did a segment on this that I think I've mentioned before... that loses (both losing elections as well as losing votes in elections that they actually win) always results in Democrats moving to the right, whereas wins (and increased vote totals in elections they win) results in Democrats going left.

Which... as an aside (I know you don't want to hear this but I'm saying it anyway) is another reason for folks to vote for Democrats, even when you (the royal you) think your vote won't affect the outcome, or when doing so makes you want to throw up a little in your mouth because of some other disgraceful crap the Democrats are doing/supporting/allowing.
