Trump Indicted!

:( Too bad.

No effing way! Trump gets Cannon again as the judge for the case.

Edit: at least initially. The govt. can appeal to have it reassigned. And since she previously had to be reprimanded, I would think they would have a good case.
Nog to mention her decision was overturned on appeal.

Saw a tweet thread saying it's likely she is not permanently assigned to the case and that it is likely she will be removed if permanently assigned.

Anyway, I read through about half the indictment today and they've got him so dead to rights that it would be funny under other circumstances. When I think about what's happened to people who leaked government info in the public interest, if Trump doesn't do some time on this it will be quite conclusive proof that the US justice system does not work at all.

Are you really surprised?
Well, yes, I have to admit that my initial reaction was surprise. I think in all of the hullabaloo, the "naturally, everything will develop in the most bizarre way possible" sense that I've developed over the Trump years must have dozed. I'd actually forgotten the whole Cannon saga until her name came up again. That's one price of everything always developing in the most bizarre way possible; it overwhelms one's processing capacities--well, mine anyway.

Also from the indictment, I can't for the life of me figure out why Bedminster hasn't also be subject to a search.

And one other comment, apropos of nothing: one thing that I suspect has Trump stewing is how tangible the evidence against him is: pictures of boxes at various spots in Mar a Lago. And I say that because Trump is acutely conscious of visuals like that. I'm thinking of the reams of blank copy paper that he put into manila folders to demonstrate how he was passing all of his financial dealings over to his son's management, and the reams of blank copy paper that he had bound to show Stahl as his health-care plan. He's fond of staging piles of paper as a way of conveying some message to our very visual, concrete-sequential minds. But now it's that very thing biting him in the butt: that the evidence against him is photographs of reams of paper.

Accept that you're a leaf in the wind and that nothing is beyond these people. Root yourself in the Tao. Kick somebody in the nads. Be free.

So he kept just moving them to hide them and hold onto them? Even from his lawyers? Just for hoarding and bragging purposes??

Trump had 3 lawyers dealing with this
The fact that 2 just resigned, 1 has decided to make a plea deal.
Since the 2 lawyers got the other lawyer to sign off on document stating that a extensive search was done for missing documents

It shouldnt be a surprise since Trump has often used lawyers like this in the past

Trump is the only thing that can save us from the Democrats prosecuting every single Republican in the United States! He says so himself!

‘I will never be detained’: Trump defiant in first speech since federal indictment

Former president, who faces 37 charges related to retention of secret documents, addresses Republican convention in Georgia

Spoiler :
Donald Trump delivered his first public address following the announcement of his federal indictment this week in Columbus, Georgia, on Saturday.

The former president took the stage at the state Republican convention in Georgia in the afternoon where he lashed out against the Department of Justice, the FBI and the Biden administration, and called his recent indictment “a travesty of justice”.

“We got to stand up to the … radical left Democrats, their lawless partisan prosecutors … Every time I fly over a blue state, I get a subpoena,” said Trump in his opening remarks.

“I’ve put everything on the line and I will never yield. I will never be detained. I will never stop fighting for you,” he added.

He went on to launch a tirade against federal officials, saying, “Now the Marxist left is once again using the same corrupt DoJ [justice department] and the same corrupt FBI, and the attorney general and the local district attorneys to interfere … They’re cheating. They’re crooked. They’re corrupt. These criminals cannot be rewarded. They must be defeated. You have to defeat them.

“Because in the end, they’re not coming after me. They’re coming after you and I’m just standing in their way.” he said.

Trump’s two speeches had been planned before the justice department indicted him on Thursday evening with 37 criminal charges regarding his alleged illegal retention of classified government documents after leaving office in 2021.

The sweeping indictment which was unsealed on Friday accuses Trump of mishandling classified documents as well as obstructing justice, making him the first US president to be federally indicted.

According to the indictment, Trump stored classified documents in “a ballroom, a bathroom and shower, an office space, his bedroom, and a storage room” at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

It also added that Trump directed Walt Nauta, his valet and aide, to move boxes of records to “conceal them from Trump’s attorney, the FBI, and the grand jury”. Nauta also faces a count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, said the indictment.

The documents that Trump allegedly possessed “included information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign countries; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack, and plans for possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack,” said the indictment.

Thursday’s indictment comes just two months after a Manhattan grand jury indicted Trump for his alleged role in a hush-money payment scandal involving the adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Trump, who has repeatedly maintained his innocence, lashed out against the latest indictment on Thursday night. In a video released on his social media platform Truth Social, the GOP’s most popular presidential candidate said, “It is election interference at the highest level … I’m an innocent man, I’m an innocent person … we’ll fight this out.”

He then turned to his supporters for money, writing in an email on Friday morning, “Please make a contribution to peacefully DEFEND our movement from the never-ending witch hunts – and together, even during these darkest of times, we will prove that our movement is truly UNBREAKABLE.”

Trump is expected to appear in a federal court in Miami on Tuesday and may face prison if convicted.

Oh, and give him money.

It really is. I've watched half a dozen pretty much through, and parts of another half a dozen.

Newsmax always carries them, prides themselves on doing so.

And by the way, I suspect he meant "deterred." Though I suspect I know why the word "detained" might be on his mind.

I am not digging through ancient Indiana news. I just remember it happened the same time religious rights legislation went through next door, too.

Having just looked it up, describing the legislation as "the first protections of gay people enshrined in Indiana state law" verges on Orwellian

Only if also granting religious protections undoes it. They wouldn't have been in there at all but for the governor, just like they'd always not been there. But you're correct, they aren't as righteously gentrified as NYC or SF.

"Gay gentrification" goes on the wall of fame along with "Jewish capitalism" and "cultural Marxism"
