Trying to Install ToT

Ok, found a download on some abandonware site. The game wouldn't play. Downloaded a patch for modern windows. The game now plays but I don't want to play the game. I want to play the community's scenarios. Tried to install the v1.1 patch but it wouldn't work. Not sure where to go from here.

This website had a version with all the patches pre-installed but it's no longer available for download. Would have been helpful.

Anyone have an idea of how to move forward from here?

For me this was long time a big hurdle, too. With TOTPP you can run Civ 2 ToT even on modern pcs, but you need the patched 1.1. ToT exe for the installation of TOTPP - and the Firaxis patch to exe 1.1 is not recognizing the original ToT exe on modern pcs. I solved that problem for me, as after months of frustration about that problem I remembered, that I still had a long forgotten very old laptop with Win XP in my cellar and on that very old laptop the Firaxis patch was able to detect the Civ2 ToT exe and to perform the update to version 1.1. I than copied the updated exe to the Civ2 ToT installation on my Win 10 computer and now TOTPP was able to detect that exe and to do its installation.

The whole problem is a disaster for all friends of Civ 2 ToT, who don´t have a pc or laptop with an old win XP installation.
