Trying to Start the Game: "Failed Initializing Python". Help!

I've glanced briefly at some of the help threads...no luck! (Correct me if I missed something, though)

Can someone tell me why I can't start my Civ 4: Beyond the Sword game? I installed it, and even now updated it to the latest version, yet I am stil getting this error message (on my Vista 64 Laptop):

"Failed Initializing Python"

I don't know what to do about this...I looked in the games folder and when I found the python folder, there were 0 bytes in it--i.e., there is nothing in it. No idea if that means anything.

I'm really quite eager to get into Civ4 again... Does anyone miraculously know how to fix this?!?

did you install with admin rights?
did you patch the game?
