Welcome to Civilization 5 Game of the Month - GOTM #267
These games allow new and old GOTM fans to play Civ 5 in a friendly competitive environment. Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for.

How to play:
1) Download the savefile, then place it in the Saves\single folder. The default paths the folder are:
Windows: ...\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves\single\
Mac: ~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/Saves/single/ or ~/Library/Application Support/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/Saves/single/
2) On the turn of your victory (or defeat), use the "lemme play one more turn" feature and save the game
3) Upload your savefile here

Where to discuss the game:
1) Announcement (this thread) - pre-game thoughts and questions
2) Opening actions - the first 100 turns
3) After actions - post-game discussion and feedback

MUST READ!
Our most sacred rule: Do not replay any turns!
If you make a mistake, accept it, and try to recover through game-play. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to "1 turn". In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous autosave, then play on the same way you played it the first time. Please let Leif or me know (either in the forums or through Private Message) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Information about threads associated with each individual TSG - Must Read if you are new to the Game of the Month!
Please note:

Spoiler :

If you wish to make a video of your game, please do not post any links to it until after the game submission date has passed. This is because of the potential spoilers that are created by posting before the end date. Thank you for your cooperation.
TSG Announcement thread (this one): This thread is used to announce the game and clarify the settings and rules (don't be afraid to ask questions). Its also used to discuss the game before you start, and post problems with opening the save. Please don't post any game-related info once you open and play the save. Instead use the next thread.
After Actions thread: In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences. The game will not be closed as such, but after one month, the results will be compiled, and will not necessarily be updated with reports coming in after the finish date.

File Upload System
Spoiler :
:

We have a game file upload system you can find here. Please use it to upload your completed first attempt by saving the game on the turn after your victory or defeat. (by using the "lemme play one more turn" feature) Please note: you must submit your game on the turn following Victory. If you continue to play, the game overwrites the data and your submission could be rejected by the submission system.
This game runs through May 15th 2025.

It's great how you keep churning out distinct setups even though the game has been around for so long!

In the thread All maps with screenshots it looks like the map type doesn't require astronomy to meet all AIs, but maybe there are variants to the one example shown there?

It looks tempting to move the settler to the gems, if it is on the coast. If it is not, we could take a step southeast and settle on the marble and it will still be turn 1. Or will there be too much coast if no fish? The starting location is meagre at any rate.

The Rainforest template has actually four different possibilities for land masses: Pangaea, Large Continents, Small Continents and Islands. Usually you are able to discover the map with Sailing only, but it is not a given.

Interesting first choice: coastal, fresh water, or mountain... I'll probably settle in place but need to think about it a while, or possibly on the marble. Will move my warrior south first to take a peek.

Brasil! This game will be all about triggering the war theme as much as possible.
Settling in place might be correct, but I might move to settle on the gems.

I was all prepared to settle in place until y'all mentioned moving to the Gems might be good. I love me some Gem Cities but it looked to me like it might be on a point of land. I guess I'll move there and see what's up and can always move back if its no good. I'll also move the warrior west to expose some more tiles near the original start to see what's there.

From the screenshot I can already see the gems tile is not coastal, the tiles adjacent to it are barely visible through the fog but they are land. I think I will SIP because the marble tile seems a big gamble if it doesn't have a lot of sea resources, and there might be horses in the plains/grass around the starting location.
