Welcome to the TSG186 After Action Report thread. In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state victory date and score (preferably in the post title), as recorded in the Hall of Fame, and the most important: your path to glory!

STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed and submitted your game.

Please attach your final, first play through, .Civ5Save file, saved AFTER the victory ceremony if you were not conquered (using the "Lemme play one more turn" feature.) In your post.

- How useful was your UA?

- Did you use spying to your advantage?

- Did the map type help or hinder victory and how?

- How did the difficulty level affect your game decisions?

- What Social Policies did you choose and in what order? Which Ideology did you choose?

- What techs did you prioritize ?

- What did you think of the map and settings?

At 176turns, The third meeting began, I find no choice for world leaders, check the winning conditions, all victories are closed. Even though, normally I should have won the game at 183 rounds.
Someone suggested that I replay TSG180, I've played 90turn, 7 cities have been established. Everything went smoothly, except that there are two partners attacking me.

In TSG186, I built 13 cities. In round 168 I achieved Global technology. Next I just do one thing, I demolish the shrine every turn and build it over and over again. The Overflow-Production transform into money, so I get more than 1,500 golds per round, quickly bought all the city states. At 176turns, I got 53 votes.

I just finished. Around turn 160 or so I realized that all victory conditions were off. I had a nice game going (5-city Tradition+Patronage) so I kept playing. With all victories disabled I decided the only way to "win" is conquer the entire world; every single city. That took until turn 314 because they AIs had a lot of crappy little cities to raze and I was limited by happiness until I filled Commerce. (don't know how many times I researched Future Tech) My final score was 4656. I was allied to every CS for the last half of the game, and could have won the world leader vote in the early 200's. Here's a couple of screen shots:

I was planning to use Freedom and Treaty Organization to ally all the city states, but instead I picked Order and took Iron Curtain for my 3rd level tenet. That really helps because you get the free courthouse when you raze cities as well as when you annex.

I built an embarrassing number of wonders in the early game, mainly because they don't cost any GPT. I don't remember them all, but only ones I really prioritized were Temple of Artemis, Oracle, and Forbidden Palace.

Social policies were Tradition opener, Honor opener, finish Tradition, Patronage opener, Exploration opener, Rationalism(3), Order(6), finish Patronage, Finish Rationalism, Commerce, a few more in Order, and finally the happy harbors policy in Exploration.

Would've won on turn 171. Was a bit disappointed when the world leader vote didn't come up.

5-city Liberty / Rationalism / Order. Delayed Printing Press and got to Info era before the first vote occurred. Happiness and gold were the main issues throughout the game. Bullying the AIs for their resources helped a lot.

Delayed Printing Press and got to Info era before the first vote occurred.

Okay, that's interesting. Because you can only delay Printing Press until after Archaeology and Fertilizer, and you can't even proceed to Economics, much less Scientific Theory. Is that enough of a delay to make a difference? (obviously it was or you wouldn't have mentioned it) You must have flown through the modern and atomic eras, but not sure how you fast-tracked from Printing Press to Plastics.

I did have Archaeology before PP, but Fertilizer isn't on the way to Plastics or Globalization, so it doesn't really help much, other than giving you some time to spawn an extra GS. You could take it before PP of course, but if you need that much prep time you should probably just go for two or three congress sessions. I researched Chemistry before PP which was a mistake - for some reason I thought it was a pre-req for Plastics. That cost me a turn or two.

Once I had Printing Press, schools were only 2 techs away, so I used one GS to get there almost instantly. This is also a good moment to start chaining Golden Ages with Great Artists and Taj Mahal, as CS culture is maxed out in Industrial, and you need the extra production to get schools quickly, and the extra gold later to buy all labs at Plastics. GA chaining works a bit better with Freedom (or at least Chichen Itza which I missed by one turn), but Order is overall stronger for an Info Era rush, as you need the science boost as soon as possible, and the third tier tenet provides a GS. I never made it to that tenet though, didn't make enough culture in time. Freedom unlocks its free policy wonder at a much more convenient tech.

Next GS bulb was to finish Radio and overflow into Industrialization. Annoyingly it turned out that I didn't have any coal in my territory and I'd already used my Great General to connect 2 Gold tiles for lux trades. Fortunately there was one CS which had a farm on its coal tile, so I allied them and improved the coal.

Rationalism finisher for Plastics (can't remember if I'd bulbed replaceable parts), bought all labs and 3 GSs with faith. I also played it safe and timed the naturally born GSs in a way that my capital would be the last city to spawn one. It had the most scientist generation points, so I stopped working the specialists slots there for a couple of turns to allow the expo to spawn a GS first, then switched back to max GS generation in the capital. This can get you that final scientist one turn quicker and allows you to get both the PT and LToP scientists on that turn as well, since the capital is the first city that's processed during the turn rollover. This didn't really matter in my game, but I like to play things very safe on Quick pace, there's so little room for error.

@BananaGod I didn't know about turning Shrines into gold. Thanks for that tip. Much better than just setting cities to produce gold.
