No it won't change. Turkey is full of moderate muslims and is too european, believe it or not, and just won't ever become a theocratic dictatorship like say Iran.

Why don't you get it? Turkey is obviously more connected with Europe and more in tune to becoming more like any modern european nation. Otherwise there wouldn't even be a discussion over why Turkey would want to join the EU.
turkey is not european. even though it is alittle secular turkey doesn't violate shari'a. soon the secular rule will be overthrown in favor of the noble shari'a. it won't be long, the turks yearn for it.

However, Hungary shouldn't exist. Great Moravia should have stayed there, and the slavs should have not moved in the balkans. The Byzantine Empire could still exist today, it could have liberalized and be more ethnically consistent, and you wouldn't have this crap conversation of "TURKEY THIS TURKEY THAT" to begin with and you won't have the ******ed nationalism of the balkans there either because you'd all be speaking greek in the south and slavic in the north with perhaps a vlachodalmatian nation in between!

And i too think that Turkey is not european. Perhaps its westernmost part is (at least in relation with its central and eastern, which is typical middle-east) but i do not think that that's enough for becomming a member of the EU.
And i think that if it joined any hope of ever having a more united EU will be lost forever..

Turkey is just as screwed up as the rest of the balkans when it comes to its nationalism and religion crap colliding with liberalism, even if it is in a different form. It should join simply because of that.
