[BTS] [RFC/DoC] Turks! The Scourge of the East!

Well, at least you can colonize America easier.

Oh he hates American politics since I keep crushing him in realpolitik :D

Gruekiller, how will you manage your way out of this one? :D

Like this, I presume.

Spoiler :

Except instead of orks, Turks, and instead of moar dakka, a buttload of horses. Horses armed with chainguns and converted into tanks ridden by the Turks into war against the Native Americans.

You mean like this? :)

:bump:

The chaos following the beginning of the Turkish Conquista (as it was known in contemporary Spanish sources) was impressive, even given the track record of the Turks on the world stage thus far. The entire Valley of Mexico was subjected to a mass slaughter and enslavement of its locals. Those who didn't fall victim to Turkish depredations embarked on a mass exodus, leaving north for the remaining Nahuatl holdings, and even the Maya kingdoms to the east. Unfortunately, they were to find the hoofbeats of Middle Eastern horses hot on their heels the entire way. There would be no escape from the Ottoman menace.

A coalition of Nahuatl princes came to an accord halfway through their flight, and a defense was set up at Tuitan. What was to be known as the Last Stand of the Aztecs ensued shortly thereafter. Arriving at the outskirts of the city, Mehmet immediately set up an array of siege engines, and began arrow volleys past the city's defenses. Though the Nahuatl put up a valiant fight, the Turks, closing on the city from all sides, squeezed the life out of their resistance, and put the five princes to death.

With the last hub of Aztec resistance crushed and subjugated, the last remaining cities of the Triple Alliance, Coyuca on the Pacific and Teotihuacan (named, of course, after the ancient city far to the south in the Valley of Mexico) on the Rio Grande, fell to the Ottomans. The former empire of the Aztecs no more, the Turks turned east. Refugees from the capture of Mexico had taken up residence in the great Maya city states of the Yucatan, and were trying to incite those kingdoms against the invaders. Mehmet led his horde back south and, in a preemptive action, began a siege of the greatest city-state, Yax Mutal. The thick jungles of the Yucatan were unfamiliar territory for the Ottomans and their horses. Guerrillas plagued Mehmet's forces the entire way, but the soltan would not be deterred. In a brutal sacking, Yax Mutal was laid flat, and soon thereafter the northern state of Chich'en Itza followed suit.

With the last vestiges of native civilization in Central America occupied and pillaged, the Turks hunkered down in their new home, scanning about for ever more opportunities for conquest and looting.

Impressive... And interesting for the future history of Ottoman cultural development. What direction will Turko-Mexican society take? A fusion of the native and conquering cultures? A Turkish-speaking aristocracy ruling over Nahuatl-speaking peasants, setting up an Aztec nationalist revolution ("the Young Aztecs"?)? Multiculturalism? Syncretism of Aztec and Islamic religious practices? I am excited to see where the roleplaying aspect of this goes.

Hmmm... I wonder what could possibly happen?
