Turn Discusion T 151-170

I would recommend we found cities on Comet ASAP to block Sirius from taking control of the whole landmass
Aren't Quatronia supposed to have something to say about it? Are they already out of the question for settling Comet?

Not sure what is up with Q... They never responded to our offer of Option B. No couter-proposal, nothing. They could have at least said "No"...

I am thinking that Q have either given up, or they are turning into a "Zombie-Civ"... aimless and leaderless, with cav scout just barely playing... no one on their team ever logs in, and they never end their turn.

If this is the case, as it seems to be, then we must forget about the Q and prepare to contest with Sirius for control of Comet. Sirius already has 3 cities neatly positioned all over Comet. The way forward would be to rush out settlers and quickly claim all the remaining land before Sirius does. I dont see what else we can do... We certainly cant just sit back waiting for the Q while Sirius claims the whole landmass...

Maybe we can send anyway Q another message to ask them for last time how they see the future of Comet?

Whipped 2 settlers. Are we sure we want to contest Sirius by settling agressively on their culture borders and beyond their fiefs at Comet? I will move them and wait for "go" from you guys.

If this situation just stays this way, and Q did not say anything, then I can assume them totally screwed and lost the will to fight.

Whipped 3rd settler and started a 4th. Also, recieved Rifling from Sirius. Remember, settlers must be escorted by Horses (we can use the one at Nabaxica), so that they can't be seen by a casual glance otherwise they will be spotted by someone on Sirius just logging in to look around. I recommend settling the cities on the Spire first, then the ones closer to Option B. Also, we should start building a Railroad to get on and off of Comet fast.

Conflict is coming soon as M&M should be dead before our treaty with Sirius expires.

EDIT: Lost 2 Spies:( Nightcrawler was captured moving toward Merlot corn, and Widowmaker was caught trying to sabotage Merlot Corn. Settlers on the way to Comet and are south of Euxine. Sent Immortal to escort, but accidentally clicked on Euxine:mad:. Moved Xbow to protect/hide them until next turn when they can move with the Immortal.

With the settler rush we need to be ready to follow up quickly with missionaries and have a good plan to rush temples+libraries. We can't let Sirius' culture overwhelm us.

We will prob just build culture in those cities for a while...much faster than trying to use missionaries, etc... at least until the borders pop and they are large enough to slave theaters.;)

Settler rush is more about blocking Sirius from getting it all. After cities are in place the culture war will begin.

Merlot City "Royal Bath" poisoned, Areto Lover of Tears was caught sabotaging the Corn North of "The Castle". Since we have lost 3 spies, I queued up 2 more. One more corn to destroy, then We will have done about as much as we can through poisoning, alone, now we need to combine poison with disorder to drain their economy. Once spies are in position, we must change to Despotism and do a Civic change mission on them, combined with disorder missions in their cities, at least in the Castle.

Longer term, we should get a few more wonders, and get the commitment of the Allies not to tech Scientific Method until there is no choice, as it will obsolete many wonders.

Finally, we need to start planning to be the ones to found Sid's Sushi, as it will easily be the best corporation on this map. For example we have 11 Clam:eek:. Others will want to get Sushi Co as well so we have to have our Great Scientist ready in advance, and we have to be the ones to discover Medicine.

We need to get merchant for it.
we have to be the ones to discover Medicine.
I dont see this happen as we barely sustain 10% science slider. Otherwise Sushi Co would be great indeed.

Areto of the Valley was caught trying to sabotage the last Merlot Corn:mad:... Areto the Alpha female has landed... she should re-poison the the Garden rather than sabotage the Corn as Merlot is rebuilding the other Corn near the Garden. We have been having bad luck with spies recently:(. Iqued up a couple more to replace our losses. They finally got a clue and started building Workers:lol:, but they are down to 3gpt at 100%:gold: so we are very near to forcing them into a STRIKE. Changing their civics and doing disorder missions should do it... The castle is down to 5 pop, and when it starves next turn, they will be losing money even running at 100%:gold:

As I said in the Sirius embassy, we probably should settle the cities closest to Option B first. I moved the settler caravan into position so we can settle one of the cities next turn. I also moved a LB into position to defend it. Hippolyte-Ce Cee can move with settler 2 to the next location and found the next city on the Northern Comet coast on the turn after that. Our third settler can found a city NW of Mirza to claim the Marble about 1-2 turns after that, and by then, Option B's settler will be done, and ready to claim the tip of the Spire, completing our settlement of Comet.

So in summation, we should have Comet all settled in 5-6 turns. We just need to send some units to defend the cities... maybe some of the units in Option B... If Mavs try to land attackers, we can upgrade to Rifles, I guess. I also shuffled around the defenders on Anjennida, as Myrine has grown too large and gone into disorder, we will get a Whale next turn, so that will give another :)face.

 oops you are right of course.

By the time Corporations come, it will be close to end of ETTT I think... so we will have to run science slider again.

It won't ensure we get Med but we should be in a position to get Free Market 1st which will ensure we at least have a GM on hand.

We really need to get a prophet so that we can boost our cash flow.

Once we build these new cities our maintenance costs are going to shoot up a lot. What can we do to get our econ on a stronger footing?

With concern that the ETTT might not hold much longer getting our economy on a stronger footing will be challenging. Militarily we are in a great position with our highly experienced stack and great general super city.

As to buildings we are way behind on building cottages, but need to get started on them. Otherwise, banks are probably going to be our biggest bang for the buck city improvement right now.

Could I request a big screen shot update? I am having a bit of a hard time following our city development and expansion.

From Feb 20 screen shots it seems we are building mostly farms on Marthaton. Several of these cities would probably be good as cottage/financial cities. Which we sorely need.

Right now we are building some production super cities for those that are near the hills at the core of the landmass (building farms and mines). I would propose that we only turn Vandal into a super production city.

For the other cities I think we will be better served by cottages and windmills. Theodora with ample seafood could actually have cottages on hills. We are getting close to the point where windmills become increasingly powerful and we can now build levees right, which will boost production in these cities to a pretty respectable level anyway.

With our large # of cities we are going to have strong production anyway, but we need to get our econ on parity if we want to stay competitive.

it seems we are building mostly farms on Marthaton.

Yes, we are, for three reasons:
- we need to grow to reasonable number of citizens each of our cities before we can specialize them the way we may want them in future and
- we need farms at this stage to be able to support miners, who to build the infrastructure on Marthaton
- If we need cash quickly, building wealth is the easies and quickest way we to get it

I had raised my concerns about us being the dumbest and slowest techers in the alliance many times till now and still have my worries, but at this time this is the situation. Anyway, I think it is far better now to increase population and production on Martathon and build infrastructure and even wealth, because mines are more gold-productive than young cottages. Once the time we can switch to Emancipation comes, we will be free to change all the farms we want to cottages and grow them at double speed being worked each turn by our high count population.

Dont get me wrong - I am big fan of cottages and do believe they are the base for every successful civ nation, but in the current situation in our alliance with those smart financial guys, we must shine in other areas for the moment and count on them to drag us forward in tech.

In the end, we will be teching fastest due to us having most cities. But for now, we need to grow them like 2metra said.

Just uploaded really big and nice pictures in the turn record thread of all the visible to us land.

Thanks for the screen shots.

I get the logic of waiting until emancipation. And we will be there before all that long anyway.

Or do we start to go the specialist route and look to switch to Representation?
