Turn limit bothers me very much, is there any way to turn it off or at least make it like 1000000, so I can play the game longer?
I tried to use editor to fix this but since I am new to Civ3, I couldn't find what I'm looking for.
Can somebody help me with advice?
Thank you.

Welcome to CFC.

You'll find what you're looking for in the editor, under Scenario Properties. You can set the maximum number of turns to 1000.

May not seem like a lot, but it almost doubles the game time. 540 is the default. So if you keep everything else as the default, your game will now end in 2510ad.

It should be noted that this is the maximum number of turns for a game. No matte how many turns you have, be it 540, 1000, or 50, you can still play after the game ends. So you have as many as it takes.

 You're welcome.

It's one of the icons on the icon bar. Should be about 1/4 of the bar away from the right side. Anyways, a tool tip will pop up if you hover over it. Or you can go to one of the menus and go to properties. Been a while since I poked around in the editor, so I don't recall exactly where it is.

Ok. I'll follow your instructions when I get home. Your answer is even more then I expected. It is nice that there are helpful
people on this forum.

It's what we're here for. Believe me, you'd have got a quicker answer if you has posted that about four hours later, when there would be more people online.

I'm betting that within the next 30 minutes, someone could hop on and tell you exactly what menu, what place, and where the button is. Of course, I could do that myself in an hour when I get home. ;)

But we're here to help. . . so c'mon back now, hear? If'n ya have any more problems. . .

Hm...hm... I think I'm really dumb. I looked through all options in the editor but could't find it again. Is there another tool I can use ?

Changing the turn limit is only available in PTW, not Civ3.

You 'can' change the turn limit in Civ3, but you would need to use some other programs like the Civ3 Multi-Tool program by Gamphros (in the utilities forum), or some other save-game editor.

Bubel:
As long as you don't bother to meet a win condition during the period of 'legal turns', you could as well carry on playing beyond the game's official ending.
You'll be prompted if you want to continue. Some features (space ship) may be disabled then, though. If you know this, just forget about it. :) Check 'accellerated production' then when you set up a new game (not in the editor but in the game: on the screen where you pick your opponents). That's available in civ3 w/o PTW expansion and probably the most convenient way, at least when you're patched to v1.29. That option may have a similar effect as editing the 'legal' number of turns. Basically you and the ai need only 50% of the shields/food to complete a task or to grow population. For example, a warrior costs 5 shields instead of 10 etc. It's not like 1000000 turns though, but *feels* like ~1000 turns (if you ignore the still constant movement rates of units and such).

Otherwise you could use the editor and give you some extraordinary bonus at game start (units like settlers, as well as techs) or even very heavily mod the rules (food consumption=1 etc). These methods *may* also give you much more time out of 540 turns.

Sorry, Bubel, I didn't realize that you didn't have PTW. . . I guess I just figure everyone does.

Isn't there an option in civ3.ini to change the turn limit? I don't recall.
