turn off resistance units?

Is there a way to turn off resistance units from popping up when you raze a city? Or modify the event so the resistance units were a lower tech level? I wouldn't mind if a few musketmen or riflemen show up, but it kind of bothers me that the leader who could only put together a tiny and completely obsolete army suddenly receives 4 mech infantry out of thin air. Partisans are one thing, highly trained and equipped units are another.

You could also turn of random events entirely. After playing a few games with events and huts off, I find I really don't miss 'em.

But surely that's not a random event?

Code:
Event139
	Partisans
Prereq: Emancipation civic AND one of your cities was razed
	Obsolete: None
	Active/Weight: 35/0
		Result:
1.a number of drafted units (equal to city's culture level -1) spawn at the city site
2.half that number of drafted units spawn in the capital

I've never had one of my cities be razed, but this sure sounds like what happens when I raze an AI city with events on...granted I haven't razed that many cities since I turned events off, but I still think it's a random event.

Looks lika an event, but not a random event.

Partisans arise to fight off an invading culture. They would be a non-official militia that arises to protect their nation.

But it shouldn't be Mech Inf unless you figure that they defeated an enemy unit and took over the equipment.

It must come from the Random Event code, whether it is actually random or not. I have played with Random Events turned off, since my first BTS game, and have never seen it happen.

By that argument, you should never get any unit other than a Warrior, as they ALL require some equipment. In fact, even Warriors have clubs...

Not sure about you, but I always keep an armored personnel carrier next to my kitchen door to take care of pesky trespassers.

I just plant mines in my yard, so I don't have to actively do anything to repel invaders.

I was amused yesterday with resistance units.

Kublai Khan builds a city right up against my cultural borders.

He then attacks me.

I come and destroy the city - remember it had only 1 pop.

I get two partisans...in my territory.

Doesn't quite seem right. :)

See? If you had mined your territory as Morgan Freeman - I mean Jerrymander suggests, you would have been ready for those surprise partisans.

This problem, clearly, is merely the result of bad planning and culture-whoring out your Civ.
