Since the game is coming up and this could possibly take a while (just to be safe) I thought we might go ahead and elect a turn player.

Memphus is fine with me if he doesn't say things like "Nothing much happened this turn." I just wanted to start just encase something delayed our elections.

Here was a typical update (before the game was a forgone conclusion we would win) from the First MTDG.

Updates like this spurred great discussion as well as team based desicisons:

Memphus gave great updates in the First MTDG.
I agree it's of critical importance to get quality updates from the turnplayer... and that's why I can 100% support Memphus for this role for our team.

Memphus is also really good at taking team orders even when he disagrees (with one notable exception that turned out he was right about anyway ;) )

And he's also super-punctual about getting the saves played.

I'm sure we'll still need backups in case he can't get to a save in time, but having Memphus as turnplayer will hold that to a minimum I'm sure.

IMO, if someone notices that the timer is down to an hour or less, and Memphus hasn't said anything about being able to play the turn in that time, whoever notices the small time left on the timer should play the turn.

@Azzaman333 that is a good plan as a last minue effort. However if I am turn player, unless i end up in the hospital i will message for when i am on vacation and can't access the save.

That said there should be a backup for like 4 hours or something, then at the last hour, it is anyone who can play it.

:agree:

If there's no word from Memphus @ 4 hours to go, then the designated backup should play. @ 1 hour to go, anyone should play who has access to the save.

As a team, I think we should resolve to only pause the game if we have a very good reason and post that reason and the estimated time it will take us to resolve it in the turn-tracker.

Try to lead by example, you know :)

I'm going to get Civ 4 and BTS so I could play sometime before the game is over. Memphus is our turn player with azman as back up. At 1 hour left anyone can.

Double post

Does anyone know how to make threads sticky? Also with permission I'll go ahead and set up the teams email.

^^ You need to ask a mod to sticky the thread :)

BTW I also think Memphus should be our turnplayer, and i am willing to be a back up player if you lot want.

Also what time will the turn move onto someone else? Cause thats quite an important issue that i don't think has been raised yet. For example i could be a back up player if the turn moved at 0000 GMT but not if it moved at 0000 eastern seaboard time since it would be middle of the night here.

Probably GMT but I don't know.

i never sleep :D so anytime is good!

@remake yeah go crazy cretae out email! (It will have out team name in it no doubt?)

Is that a yes or a no? Of coarse it'll have our name!

I have "sticky" capability so let me know what thread you'd like stickied in the forum.

@Memphus - you should try to connect to Daveshack's server and make sure you can join the test game.

I was able to do it without issue.

I think someone else on our team must have tried it before me, because we already had a team password (same as our e-mail) "warsawwasraw"

Let us know!
:salute:
