From the stat sheets at the front of the site/forum, Newton's cost 400, ToE is 600. We're just a few turns away from Newton's in Kaz. We are many turns away from a palace (30+ IIRC).

No, no, no, no; my mistake; I wasn't making myself clear.

I was using Newtons, and earlier, Copernicus, as benchmarks; guide posts, distance markers; that sort of thing. It was too hard to keep track of the accumulated shields in Kaz.
 
Keeping track isn't hard. Switch to "Wealth", and a popup should come up saying "Are You sure you want to switch to wealth? X shields will be wasted." X is how many shields are currently in the box.

We learn Nationalism from The Council, which upgrades our Musket builds to Rilfes (and explains why the vMusket expected in Tower of Babel this turn did not appear).

Rails to TaTuba is the first worker task to complete. Done. Railing to TaTuba connects Freehand, also. We then rail from Freedom Central to Thessauronicleus. We connect Kremlin.
Have 2 workers 'extra', so to speak (W067 and W019). The others are in stacks of 6 to rail. The task of those stacks is to connect our cities, 8 tiles per turn. Until that is done, I'll use these two to rail around cities.

This is something we cannot determine from the Trade screens. They only show what we know and others do not. It does not show what they have and we lack.

We need to send a note to The Council about Babe's cavalry.

We could ask Babe about buying Cavlary, but I don't think they would sell. Plus, isn't The Council going to research Military Tradition?

Yes you can. You have to know the tech beaker cost. ie 1000 beakers. If one civ has learned it beaker cost will recude to 800 beakers, two civs learned it cost is 600 beakers. MM cities so beakers per turn are 100 (100bpt). You would except to see 10 turns left to research the tech. But instead you would see 8/6 turns. However you would not know which civs have that tech.
