Turns are taking too long to load in Civ V

Hi,

Civ V with 12 States and 12 City States (I think?) and Earth sized map is taking a long time to load turns around turn 450. I know that the AI has to process for all 24 (23?) AI players but does it really have to take this long? Waiting up to thirty seconds for my next turn once in a while is kind of a drag, makes me feel like I'm loading up a web page on dial up again.

Civ V is the first civilization game I've ever played and I really like it, having played 64 hours accumulated so far (More than double my second most played game CoD Black Ops) on Steam. But I think about five of those hours are turns processing...

Anything I can do to speed this up? Will the expansion speed this up? Will a high end Haswell CPU make much of a difference? Please tell me there is something I can do to speed up the processing time of AI turns...

from the info youve given its not that bad. 30 second turn times is actually decent if youre at turn 450. many of us endure 1min+ times when we hit t300. it's something that you just have to deal with in games like Civ. its more of a game for people with patience--it is a big time suck compared to other fast-twitch kind of playing. you can speed some of it up by installing Civ on an SSD HD and/or allowing all 4+ processors to operate when playing (by going into task manager > processes > right-clicking the civ process and selecting 'Set Affinity' and choosing all or some of the processors).

Another thing, being at t450 either suggests a long effort at a standard speed game or playing on Epic or Marathon speed. Either of those are fun but even at the best case scenarios late game turns will always take a long time. Plus, standard games settings are 8 Civs and 16 CSs. More civs incurs more time between turns as their empires are larger than any CSs. You could try to play a standard speed, standard setting game to see what the norm looks like and then mess with that. There is also quick speed that lessens the amount of turns needed to win if you'd rather play for a couple hours rather than a 6+ hour effort per game at standard.
