I don't know why when you pick certain leaders or a combination of a leader and an specific landscape you get declarations of War early on the game and lately two leaders declaring war simultaneously.

Latest example, Theodora:
From early on I try to develop 3 cities and at least have 4 units for defense, between Classical period and Medieval times I have Ceasar and Monctezuma on my doorstep with 5 to 6 units in from different cities, I got overwhelmed and they capture one of my cities. Enraged I restart the game, try to develop 3 cities and develop technology as fast as I can, although the money drains like water, and then I have ZuWeitan declaring war from the south and Songhai from the north, again, not enough units to defend my cities in both fronts. In one occasion just starting the game Catherine bad talked to me, denounced me (even when you're still discovering the new lands) and declare war on me at the beginning of the Classical period.

What to do? Indeed certain leaders triggers jealousy or greed for my possessions? Advice PLEASE!

You shouldn't settle a new city without some sort of plan as to how to protect it. For example "if someone attacks, I'll buy an archer and/or walls", "the terrain (hills/rivers/coast/etc) will defend me" or "this city is not close to anyone and probably won't be attacked".

If you discover you have close neighbours, try to get Archery by turn 30-50 or so, and either make an archer or two (they're useful for barbarians too), or have a plan to rush them if you're attacked.

at deity i nearly always get a declaration of war before turn 50 and 2 other before turn 100 (generaly a 2nd one frome the one i beat at turn 50 .... and another).
Ok ii only play on standard map size and continent but i get this problem with whatever civ or city initial placement.
So yes city placement is important try to get only 1 front even if more than one civ try to beat you (in a perfect world they both attack the same city or through the same one and block the other placement). if you are between 4 civ (really bad luck imo) try to develop the new cities so the nearest one is the same for all of them (ya it is a pain ... but take it into account when you make your cities ... early defense is the hardest part imo as losing a city at early stage generaly mean you will not win the game (even by diplo))
The only time i can prevent that seems when i am geographically isolated (and even then ...) or have many allied CS (because civ take allied CS military forces and CS city strength into your golbal strength i think). As i generaly rank last at this time i guess that is normal ... and why i generaly plan to war a lot (and so love so much the aztec).
Strangely the most peaceful civ i ever get as neighbor is the mongol (luck ?) gengis seems to attack everyone else but me when he is my neighbor....

Try having a 4 front war vs Siam, Iroquois, Persia/Austria, and Kamehameha. Pretty much exhausted a 10K gold treasury buying units; but in the end I captured almost all of Kamehameha's land, one of Siam's citys, and two from Persia.
Just try to defend as much as possible, don't be afraid to fall back and let your cities take damage, they usually can stand up to quite a bit. Its much better to conserve units when your on a defensive war than take theirs out.

If you provide some screenshots of your cities or a save game it's a lot easier to give advice about what you may be doing wrong.

I got so mad I ended that game, I'm trying tonight again. I'm aiming on Domination victory with Theodora as I never played with her before but from all other leaders, she attracts so much envy or hate that's tough to defend. Should I keep only 1 or 2 cities until turn 50? I notice that more units you have, in the early game, it leave you pretty much broke even having good resources nearby.
