Ugh, HOF and tiny conquest

I know this has been brought up before, but I just had to say something.

I got over 16000 points today. Took me under 2 hours. It was my second time actually trying for a conquest victory, and my next highest score is just under 3000 (woot! I'm in Emporer HoF!)

Being that I was going for a conquest victory, I picked the Persians.

But once the game started, I knew that it was an incredibly lucky beginning. The map was low landmass pangea, but I started on a small island barely having room for 8 cities. (there were 4 islands, as I found out at the end). Within 7 or 8 turns I knew all 3 of the rival civs were on the tiny island.

Iron working finishes... the only hill/mountain in my territory happened to have iron on it.

And, you can guess what happens on a tiny island with one player building immortals while everyone else is using warrior/spearman with a couple archers. :)

Game over before 600 BC. My second time ever actually trying for a conquest victory. More than 5 times my best score to date.

Ugh, if I wasn't convinced something needs done before, I am now. :( Not only does it seem easy to get these high scores, but luck seems to play a gigantic factor as well.

the whole score thing is nonsense. it`s based on land control and population way too heavily and then has to give a gigantic bonus for early victory because of what you might have gotten in area if you played on.......

I usually play to win - in a way that pleases me. so if i want to win by flattening everyone with modern armour even tough i could achieve dominance way earlier - i wait!

forget the score..... it`s good for GOTM where everyones aim is a high score but not when you play for your private fun and victory...

I play for fun, and I like to see other civs sufferring. Let them rebuild using their deity bonus!
Also, I don't have any patience to manage more than 12-20 cities. Guess how's my score despite the fact no civ can threaten me. Heh, reminds me of present day US. They never, oops I mean rarely have to fight a war in their own turf.
