Ugliest buildings thread

Can't say that i like that radio building... :\

But how about this pride of Bristol?

Renowned for its graffiti and street art, this building has been derelict for more than thirty years, during which six people have died in it.

Mostly looks like a large horror-theme park :)

I like that one. It yields space to the ground around it and makes things feel less claustrophobic.

I think the shape could work, just that in this case, it doesn't. Perhaps the pictures don't capture it well, but the building is a god-awful 60s brown and the surrounds are quite run-down. Yet it draws attention to itself, showing off these horrific qualities.

Re the pride of Saudia, this side of it looks even worse:

(the tower is not entirely finished in that pic, but afaik the rest is as it is now).

This one is finished, though:

Some sort of music-hall building, in Seattle. Very grunge :smoke:

I'm sorry, but I like both of those, Kyriakos.

The thing I like about the Saudi hotel is that the scale is just so ridiculously over-the-top. Plus, it takes an icon - Big Ben - or the Tower of London or whatever the hooligans are calling it these days - and translates it to an Arabic environment. That's cool. I like that for a hotel. For a government building? Certainly not. But in this context I'm fine with it.

And your second one?

It's awesome! I don't understand why you'd classify it as "ugly".

The inside may be great (utterly different matter), but the outside...well...doesn't look much like a building. More like lost paint which somehow suffered natural thrombosis and now threatens the body of Seattle with embolism?

To me it's just an unimaginative, oversized, obscene display of Saudi royal wealth. In other words, it's the McMansion of skyscrapers.

Bailen "Skyscraper" in Bilbao

Well, this photo is not fair as in it the building is dirty

This one is more honest, I consider it as an ugly building yet
Spoiler :

It was built in the 40s when Bilbao was an industrial city whose economy was based on iron and steel industry and shipyards
They have cleaned it a few months ago so that it matches better with the surrounding buildings, still it is the ugliest in the area

So am I the only person in the world who thinks this building is awesome? I loved how it dominates the landscape and the color melds with the desert. It looks freakin cool:cool:

I also think it's awesome.

I saw this marvel in Utrecht. I really like it, but it's also really ugly.

 well I make zero claim to know the significance of that building and its impact on the surrounding area, merely that from that posted aerial the Saudi hotel looks cool.
