uh,Internet Mutliplayer?

this always happens

When i Click Login NOTHING HAPPENS

heres what i do:

1: load game (of course)

2: choose multiplayer

3: choose INTERNET game

4:enter password

5:click LOGIN

BUT it doesnt GO ANYWHERE!

it just stays on the same page saying Nothing

It shouldve done SOMETHING OTHER THAN STAY ON THE SAME PAGE!

Im going mad on this, i really want to paly a Multiplayer Game of CIV4 But i cant because of this!

By the way, IM DEFINATLY CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET!

I also have the Latest Patch 1.6Something

and i dont know any IP adresses not even my own...

Have you created a gamespy user from inside civ4/warlords? (it wont work on gamespy usernames you have created other places because civ4 adds some letters to the end of username or something)

yes i have thought i may need to make a new account, But The Same Thing Happens! it freezes for a few secs as is it was loading (i can see taht the earth in the background stopped moving,) Then it carries on! just like before and teh earth starts moving again etc...

Hmm.. then I think you may see this behaviour too if you are using the wrong password.. (for some reason it doesnt give you a message about wrong password) ..
also you get this if you try to create an account, and the username already exists

i created a new account and it worked! i went to the lobby, but when i tried to login again nothing happened! and i know i had the right password

The game doesn't report error messages in the multiplayer creation screen.

So you go through the creation process and the game pauses a while and takes you back to the main menu. It may have failed at that stage because of another account with the same name but the game doesn't inform you. Which means you'll never logon successfully!

Best thing to do is to avoid the in-game account creator.
Go to www.gamespyid.com and create an account there

Once you know the account is created successfully then you can use it in civ to logon to the multiplayer lobby.

I already have an account without the same name as any other and that does not work, i created my gamespy account ages ago

I too can not use multiplayer. I've tried with an old gamespy account, a new one made on their website, and a new one made in the game. I tried them all with -tk at the end. I tried it fullscreen and windowed. I made sure Civ4 and Warlords are both on Norton's exception list. I tried disabling Norton. I reinstalled Civ4 and Warlords and the patches. Nothing works. Anyone know a solution?

Maybe I should add that I am using Vista and a university wireless connection, and I don't have any problems playing my other online game City of Heroes

hey i had a trial of COH i loved it, im thinking about getting teh full game, i have loads of money (but id rather fix my leg with got buggered up 2days ago, i dont know how but its gone out of position! and you can feel a lump of bone on the outside! (i so need to see those ppl that put the body parts in the right place!)


btw it works now, my internet connection is stronger.


but taht still really doesnt matter all taht matters is my left leg! (its the knee thats messed up)

having the exact same issues. also running vista/wi-fi
killed all the firewalls etc. starting to think this is a vista issue- this OS SUCKS DONT BUY IT, seriously, its worse than XP

Okay, I've got it now. Turns out, the game just doesn't give you error messages . First, you must create a new account inside the game, even if you made one online or have one already rolleyes. Second, if you pick a name thats taken (email address doesn't matter, just the username), it doesn't tell you that it's taken, it just sits there. I picked another name that i knew wouldn't be taken and I got right in. Hope that does it for you.

PS, come on Firaxis/Gamespy (whoever's fault it is)... how hard is it to display an error message?!?!
