Okay, I've decided to try my hand at Civ some more, but every time I start a game, my User Interface won't show up. I have the screen and my initial d00dz, but past that, there's nothing on my screen. No settle button, nothing. It's quite distressing.

Any ideas?

Alt + I does nothing, and yes, I'm running BtS 3.17.

Edit: More information, I can't get to the options from the main menu or from inside a game. The initial "who's your leader" thing doesn't pop up, and generally, I don't see much that I need to play.

please open
my games\<gamename>\civilizationIV.ini
and change the settings so that the bottom of the file looks like this:

Code:
; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

; Enable synchronization logging
SynchLog = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

; Enable rand event logging
RandLog = 1

; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

; Break on memory allocation order #
BreakOnAlloc = -1

then start a game until the error occurs - quite the game and post all items of
my games\<gamename>\logs
as a zip file.

<gamename> is either Sid Meier's Civilization 4 or Warlords or Beyond the Sword

could you repeat this after clearing the game cache? During startup of the game hold down the shift key. Right now the logs are full of errors saying that it cannot find FfH modules...
Did you ever install FfH into the core game files?

Ah, bloody hell that was so long ago. I believe I did, yes. I've never taken BtS off my computer after installing it last year.

Yeah. It worked every time I tried it up to yesterday.

If I remember right, the first time that it happened was actually playing the Afterworld scenario. I had no UI when I tried that one, but then going back to BtS, it worked fine. Then after I tried it again, no UI.

:hmm:
do the following:

Delete or rename
"...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\beyond the sword"
and
"...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\beyond the sword"
You need to configure windows to show hidden files to see these.
Then try starting the game again (this will wipe any cached stuff while not touching your mods or saves).

Where are the documents and settings files found? O_o

Maybe my computer is just weird, or maybe I'm clueless, but I can't seem to find them. I'll keep looking.
