British National Party wins two seats out of seventy-two available.
This means they now get funding from the EU for having MEPs, and they gain access to researchers to do their bidding.

Two seats too many, but given their popularity I am surprised they didn't have any seats before. Anyway, 2 out of 72 is less than 3%.

Parliamentary democracy always opens the door for fringe parties. The 2 party system of the US has it's weaknesses, but person has to be close enough to mainstream to fit within the party. So (most) of the absolute nutjobs are sidelined.

Imagine if there wasnt around a 10% threshold, would have been many more seats for nick griffin and his party.

I find the BNP repugnant, but 2 out 72 doesn't seem to be a big deal to me.

Also, the Front Nationale got three seats and Valams Blok has two, but again I don't it is big a threat.

No. When Brits give BNP a majority, then we can dismiss their criticisms. Right now, a fringe party getting a fringe vote is no more indicative of the stupidity of the population as a whole than someone like Brownback in the Senate.

Tell me when the Constitutionals get 2 seats in the House or Brownback says black athletes can play in the US as long as they don't call themselves Americans.

Yeah, it's bad. Some people are idiots thinking BNP is a good choice for a protest vote. Hopefully an anti-racist anti-fascist backlash will now begin.

UKIP's result is much more worrying, IMO.

They're the 2nd largest UK party in European Parliament. now, which is a disgrace. I almost hope they succeed in their efforts and get the UK out of the EU. Brits obviously hate the EU so it baffles me why they are staying in it.

That applies to the French too. Pretty soon all the Europeans will have to be quiet.

No worse than having a party led by someone that defected to East Germany.

Why does Europe get to move right while we're stuck with a pinko in the White House? It's no fair. I've never met a European who WANTED to move right, anyway. What in the heck is going on over there ?_?

EP has very low influence on European foreign policy, so the Americans won't even feel any change at all.

Also, most European center-right parties would appear liberal to American conservatives, so it doesn't really matter.
