UK Politics VI - Will Britain Steir to Karmer Waters?

Can't those people who for some reason aren't able to buy a house, rent-for-a-lifetime some apartment in the south bank of Thames and see the houses of parliament from their window? ^^

Rents also really high.

Well yes, more so for those apartments. That was the joke :) They just - afaik - aren't even sold, you pay very many millions of pounds for the right to live there until you die and then ownership reverts to whomever of the aristocrats owns them (?).

Moderator Action: This argument was going around in circles five pages ago. I was also under the impression that I asked people to stop this endless argument, twice no less! Do I need to start banning people from the thread to get it to stop?

^^^ Moderator Action: Yes, but anyone could start a new thread on UK housing if they wanted to continue the discussion.

On a different note, a majority of Brexit voters "would accept free movement’ to access single market".

"Perhaps the most striking finding was that 54% of Britons who voted leave, including 59% of voters in “red wall seats”, said in exchange for single market access they would now accept full free movement for EU and UK citizens to travel, live and work across borders. This could be because the surge in net migration to the UK after 2016 meant that Brexit was no longer seen by its supporters as the answer on immigration, the report suggested."

High house prices also suck miney out of the real economy. It's being spent on mortgages and rent vs retail, hospitality etc.
As an aside, it's kind of sad and depressing that that "hospitality" is now being seen as the "real economy". I mean "retail" is bad enough really.

Yes, but the EU never provided an unequivocal right for UK nationals to retire and live out their
days away from the cold in a pleasant part of warmer countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy.

That was always conditional upon the consent of those member state governments.

You've always been welcomed here, even if every summer you trash the beach side resorts and pubs:)
Perks from the old alliance I guess;)

Surprise, surprise, with the fall of the Assad family regime we now are astonished to find that Rifat al-Assad, uncle of the recently exiled president, used to ‘invest’ in the UK property market.

Randy Andy's spy mate named

An alleged spy who befriended Prince Andrew has been named as the businessman Yang Tengbo, amid a row at the heart of government over how to deal with influential Chinese nationals.

The allegations surrounding Yang have cast a spotlight on the government’s plans for a foreign interests register and whether to designate China as an enhanced risk in the middle of Labour’s new charm offensive towards Beijing.

Yang, who split his time between the UK and China for almost two decades, ran the Duke of York’s Pitch@Palace in China – a Dragons’ Den-style project. He was also given authority to act on the prince’s behalf in Chinese business dealings, according to court documents.

He was also pictured with two former Conservative prime ministers, Theresa May and David Cameron. Yang is also known to have met a number of other politicians, including the former deputy prime minister John Prescott.

Well, everyone knows that Labour's "designated" role in government is to carry the can for the Tories. No matter what happens, it's Labour's fault, even when we're only six months after a 14-year Conservative tenure.

When they intentionally carry on policy, that's them.

When the Tories are obviously just stirring the pot, its on the Tories.

The SNP’s love of secrecy and coverup continues to be breathtaking. This is an extract from a Freedom of Information request into the alleged plan to discredit Alex Salmond.

Transparent government for all to see!

That is so pointless that if you said that was from an Onion article, I'd believe you.
