Neither Kennedy or Victoria would hide behind: "but that was not us, but Gibraltar who did it", "we only supplied those marines at the request of Gibraltar"

    Anyway
We still don't really know for sure whether it did happen in Gibraltar territorial waters or the international waters.
And Spain is planning a formal complaint.

    Yeah
Kind of funny that Farage criticises sir Kim for having that opinion.
It is sir Kim’s civil servant duty to report to the best of his abilities.... nothing else

Well, naturally. Farage subscribes to the "Trump arse-licking" and "do anything to get coverage" schools of thought.

Would you mind providing some context for that photo? Random images aren't that helpful.

On those intelligence security risk issues of Boris with Nr10 being cautious when Boris was Minister of Foreign Affairs.

    The Berlusconi style parties:

    And yes
The London Evening Standard is one of the four UK newspapers openly supporting "Back Boris"

Victoria's government actually did hide behind Gibraltar during the Don Pacifico affair.

I found this wiki story on that affair: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Pacifico_affair

    Fantastic story :)
Gunboat diplomacy of the UK and a famous "Civis Romanus sum" Palmerston quote in the domestic UK politics, where Palmerston was attacked by the opposition to use gunboat diplomacy to punish Greece because of Don Pacifico, an English subject, was attacked and vandalised by a Greek mob.
(and ofc there were other UK interests as well).

But no mentioning of Gibraltar being used to hide behind.
The UK mediterranean navy fleet did detain the Greek fleet and blocked the Greek ports.
    Palmerston's orders:
From this wiki I read that the Grandfather of Don Pacifico lived in Gibraltar:

Palmerston was met with many accusations for this, in the house of commons and lords. A pitiful affair - though still nothing compared to how Britain dealt with the danish fleet in the napoleonic wars ;)

Yes, let's steal your entire fleet. But relax, don't complain. This is for your own safety. Now Napoleon won't have a reason to invade you...

Iirc they moreover burned almost all of it. Only kept a few ships for themselves.

David Pacifico's British nationality allegedly originated from that Gibraltar relationship.

Pacifico's claim to being a British subject was extremely thin and obviously meant more as a pretext for hijacking the British government in order to ensure his financial restitution. The British government, for its part, was extremely willing, even eager, to play its role.

If the Brexit MEPs had any decency, they'd refuse to take their seats like Sinn Fein do in Westminster, but no, all those attractive benefits and media coverage are more important than alleged principles.

Anne Widdecombe knows more about the British Empire than posters to this thread,
the British Empire having being still around when she was a very young girl.

I suggest listening to her speech, or, if you can not bear that, at least reading the relevant sentence.

    .

That was in the context of France and Germany deciding who the top EU officials should be, ignoring the EP selection process.

    .

Oh, one other thing; thre British Empire thought that it had abolished slavery after 1833, but it appears to be back
here, thanks to the EU's freedom of movement with 400 victims around Birmingham (England, not Alabama),

A point you might consider is:

That doesn't really make any sense because neither Germany nor France got their first picks. They were both vetoed by the Visegrad-countries.

Maybe they should have allowed the euro mps to vote for those positions, like last time?
Or would that still be too much democracy? ;)
