Given that the scoop was leaked to Isabel Oakeshott, friend of Lord Ashcroft, Nigel Farage and Aaron Banks I'm sure that the intent was to embarrass the current government, and the Foreign Minister and former Foreign Minister now running for Tory party leader.

She is not the original source... who gave the documents to her, will it be known at all?

If it does become known, they should be prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act. The Fail should have known better.

Britain remained in charge in a number of places until the early 1960s. Yes, that may have been the extra
time tail end of Empire, but those who lived then have a perspective that those who did not, do not have.

The point is it is nonsense to suggest that Ann Widdecombe needs to be reminded of the British empire.

I have no idea who leaked it. It may have been just carelessness, or one of those who sneer at Donald Trump.
Reminds me of when Al Haig released his assessment of Argentina before the Falklands War. The cynics say
he economised on time by producing an assessment that could also be regarded as equally applicable to the UK.

You don't "carelessly" leak something to the likes of Isabel Oakeshott. Anyone who's high enough in the diplomatic service to have direct access to ambassadorial communiques should know exactly what they're doing.

If that happened, then the likes of Farage might just stop worshipping at the altar of Trump. Unlikely though - we have daily proof that the gutter press will spin anything as a monstrous slur on the EU, Remainers or literally anyone who isn't a Tory given long enough.

Trump is happy to use it all to do some May bashing.

    Trump:
I guess the Trump minions in the UK are all to happy to get brown elbows with this Mighty Bully.
Just do what your big Overlord is telling you to do.

    Better the devil, you know.

(I love the strange yet poetic use of the comma there)

Ie sometimes an obvious bully is preferable to those who aspire to be seen like normal but are utter misanthropes.

I obviously mean the supposed antagonistic gang, the one which destroys with less media coverage due to being more covertly vile.
Sons of Anarchy aren't the only group of thugs in this show.
(sorry, can't resist: ) eg there are also the Aryans :p

    I just don't like bullies
Not because of them as such
but because of the damage they do to their victims, often long lasting damage... of a nature contrary to self-worthiness and emancipation... values I hold high.
Trump a nasty example for many... not only for politicians.

I'm not sure internal leaks can really embarrass Britain further at this point, but good luck tamping it down.

Given Boris looks likely to be our next PM I suspect we've only begun to embarrass ourselves.

Yes, but people will laugh at Boris.

I don't remember many people laughing at Theresa May.

And accordig to Reader's Digest, "Laughter is the Best Medicine".

Or it could have been the BoJo camp clearing the way for Farage to take the post. Bojo's criticism of an ambassador for doing his job, not those who leaked the highly sensitive government documents is pretty unheard of.
