It's just the UK getting on with the time. Political systems everywhere in western Europe have been decomposing.

The americans do not seem likely to be rid of their two party system very soon. Sadly for them.

Wait until you see whom the UK appoints as replacement ambassador to the U.S. of A.

Theres speculation that May will appoint the new ambassador in the time she has left.
BoJos failure to defend Darroch hasn't gone down well.

I would pay good money to see her appoint BOJO as ambassador, and I'm sure half the UK would be glad to have him on the other side of the Atlantic.

I'm wondering if the UK has an institutional memory of the Cold War when the US would kick out Russian diplomats for spying and they'd retaliate by kicking out some of our diplomats. If the UK now booted the US Ambassador, Trump would have a cow. [pissed]

The Northern Irish economy is looking bad - my guess is customers in the south are sourcing new suppliers and the general slowdown in the British economy due to Brexit uncertainty.

Meanwhile Westminster has turned the screw on the DUP to get the assembly back up and running by voting to introduce abortion and gay marriage in Northern Ireland if the assembly isn't back up and running by the autumn. (The DUP opposes both and until recently could block them in the assembly on their own but they lost their majority in the most recent assembly election)

Stormont hasn't sat for two and a half years (coincidentally only slightly longer than the length of time the DUP have held the Tory majority together within Westminster) and they're only now deciding to do something about this? It would be nice if, one day, daily politics consists of more than just Brexit (and disasters big enough to push that aside).

Political factions that prefer a smaller influence of the Public State as elected by the people have several means at their disposal:
Not only a smaller government budget, less regulations and less restrictions from non-military international conventions and commitments... but also hindering a government and its civil service to do its normal work, to function.

He made a direct appeal to Donald Trump for asylum - he was banned from entering the USA and got caught entering it on someone else's passport.

I am pleased to see that you are using his correct name.

The thing I most dislike about that convicted fraudster is his stealing
of the example name used for the ordinary British WW2 soldier,
and the foolishness of the media here in entertaining that fraud.

Boris Johnson, the frontrunner, sided with Donald Trump.

I don't know whether Theresa May has the bravery to do such a thing during her lame-duck period, but I strongly suspect not. See really's post. Not even now does May dare do anything about Northern Ireland.
It really reminds me of freewheeling Hong Kong, a colony kept for a few politicians' post-Imperial nostalgia and to keep things as in the good old days i.e. without such things as organised labour or popular representation.

Northern Ireland is the same, a next-door colony that doesn't even have the same laws as the rest of the allegedly equal kingdom.
