The idea of my quote was precisely about the fact that Pushkin lived in XIX century. I found that ironical and a pity not everybody understood what I meant.

And yes, it would be a good idea for Ukraine and Russia to forgive each other and integrate, in order to counter EU expansionism

Some people, when they get nervous or stressful, go blind. Which is known as hysterical blindness.

Now, if we take this concept and apply it to message boards, then we have something like hysterical flaming. That is, when in a public talk a person goes blind to certain things, totally irresponsive to any kind of stimuli related to a specific topic / argument / fact. When such person is around, or worse, is your opponent, you often find yourself looped telling the same thing over and over, or getting into every aspect thinkable until exhausted, never resolving the matter. He just ignores. And you can do nothing.

Here in this thread I've learned a new type of hysterical flaming (Takhisis, you're a real master!): hysterical language barrier!

Gonna think about how to adapt it to the situation with single native language...

Some things are virtually impossible to translate adequately. Like "Mock Turtle" in "Alice in Wonderland". And in poetry, you at best will get a decent poem with the similar meaning. This is the reason why Pushkin is treated as the greatest poet inside Russia, and almost unknown outside of it.

I doubt there ever existed a person who mastered both languages on such a brilliant level and in the same time had a remotely similar talent in poetry. Even if it did, it would be not enough, because many writings are too strongly tied to specific culture, to be translated without serious distortions.

You're an idiot.

RFL has a long history of fighting censorship in countries lacking press freedom. During the Cold War, it was literally the only link people had with the outside world. It's role in bringing down Communism by providing information to the people of the Easter Bloc was invaluable.

But of course, for some people the difference between "reporting" and "propaganda" is not obvious, because their petty minds were conditioned to treat the truth as the enemy of the state.
