Taking into account all aspects of the game what is the ulimate military production city?

Sorry if this has already been discussed, if it has please give me a link. I'm new to Civ 4 and I am about to undergo a Conquest game using Boudica. Here just some of my thoughts:

Leader Traits: Aggresive & Charasmatic
UB: Dun
Civics: Vassalage & Theocracy
City contains:
- State religion for full use of Theocracy
- Barracks
- Stable
- Dun
- Heroic Epic / Red Cross / Ironworks
- West Point
- Statue of Zeus
- Great Wall
- Military Academy (Figure you should get at least 1 GG if you war)
- Forge
- Factory
- Power for Factory

Not adding the potential of having Great General Super Specialists. That could produce some pretty intense units. Land units would start with Combat I & Guerilla I from Leader Trait and Dun. Theocracy and Vassalage would give you +4 XP and a barracks would give you an additional +3 XP, plus the bonuses from West Point, etc.

I imagine the Mongols could have some pretty intense mounted units with their UB.

What do you think is the ulimate military production city?

Do keep in mind that the effect of wonders are almost always wide spread across your civilization, so the SoZ and the Great Wall don't have to be built in your military city. Also, the effects of theocracy are not limited only to your holy city, that would be a bummer if that were the case.

Otherwise, it sounds like a city to overrun at all costs if you're the enemy!

Looks great. But you can put the Great Wall and Statute of Zeus in other cities than your military city. Also, given the forge/factory pollution, count on having to put in at least a granary and an aqueduct.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you can have max 2 National wonders per city. So I would go Heroic Epic and West Point. Plus get the Pentagon somewhere in your civ. ;)

Yeah, in order building

Barracks
Granary
Lighthouse*
Dun
Heroic Epic
Forge
West Point
Military Academy+
Levee*
Docks*
Factory/Coal Plant
(Aqueduct, Harbor*, Hospital, Grocer for Health as needed and Happiness buildings as needed)
Industrial Park (2 free Hammers)

* if you can in this city
+ as soon as available, all othe GG settle in this city

build G.Wall, Pentagon, +SoZ for maximum warmongering

military academy is mostly worthless, maybe on early game, but usually the 2XP or a SuperUnit is a better use for a GG.

My advice is to build your military city in a location with a bunch of food, hills, and river tiles (and make sure to build the city ON a river tile). Then mine all the hills, build enough farms to work them all, and finish with the right balance of farms/workshops to have just enough food to work all remaining flatlands. Build a Levee as soon as you get Steam Power. Heroic Epic / West Point is probably your best National Wonder combo. IronWorks is way too expensive to waste time with. You can put IW in a wonder factory or Red Cross or Moia Statues city instead.

Forget about the Military Academy. With the Military Science prereq finally (AFAIK) correctly enforced in 3.13, by then you will have between +150% and +200% military unit production, and adding another measely +50% won't be as valuable as a Warlord or Military Specialist.

Lighthouse*

Only build lighthouse if you have food resources in the water, because 2F tiles don't help at all for a production city -- unless you also have Maoi Statues.

Although I like to have one strong-production coastal city for ship production, it's usual that my primary military city has no water tiles.

I think it's impossible with the national wonder limit. But I'm glad that you're focusing on city specialization. Good job! :goodjob:
