Leaders aren't the same as heads of state. Any figurehead is worthy, as long as they were iconic and defining to the nation they are repping. Joan of Arc, Gandhi and MLK all qualify for me, and i am not in the least bit sorry about it. The only strike against them is that they are often not the best choices to lead.

We kind of need a Great Statesman GP to deal with these people if they can't be leaders.

Without having read the thread, here are some leaders I'd like to see:

    *Vercingetorix of the Gauls
*Maria Theresa, don't care what civ
*Taizong or Wu Zetian of Tang, leading China
*Hamilcar Barca or Hasdrubal I of Carthage
    *Tiglath-Pileser III of Assyria
*Nabonidus of Babylon (it's not his fault the Persians happened :p) or Nabopolassar
    *Akhenaten of Egypt
    *Alfred the Great of Wessex
*Joanne of Flanders of the Duchy of Brittany (wishful thinking)
*Philippe Augustus, Francis I, or Louis XIV of France (or, if we're trying to compete with CdM, how about "the Citizen King," Louis-Philippe? :p )
    *Elizabeth I of England
*John Adams of America (I don't really want an alternate leader for America--but I'd love to see President Adams included at some point, maybe Civ7...)
    *Zenobia of Aram

I'm sure a lot of these have already been mentioned.

Cardinal Richelieu and Joan of Arc would be as worthy as CdM (intriguing historical figures with a significant powerbase and an even bigger legacy), but the internet will melt if they provide two French leaders, neither of them being de iure monarchs.

Louis XIV, Clovis or Charlemagne would do fine (although I prefer Charlemagne as a Germanic, rather than Frankish leader since his Capital City is located in present-day Germany.)

Except Richelieu actually wielded enormous power, unlike CdM. Unfortunately, Richelieu's abilities would be virtually identical CdM.

I've moved Scotland from the Never Before Seen Civs List to the Alternate leaders list. Congratulations Scotland!

I'm still keeping the Celtic blob leader list, just in case more Celtic Civs are added to the game. It won't have any Scottish leaders added, for obvious reasons.

You can add Old Owl and Amorous Man to the Comanche list.

Least intimidating leader name I've ever seen.

As for the least, I would like to add civilisation of Yoruba - it is the third major ethnic group of Nigeria, next to Hausa and Igbo, with rich culture and urban history. It created Benin, Ife and Oyo Empire (which was in fact bigger and stronger than Benin). I don't understand why in these forums "Benin" is popular instead "Yoruba", for me it's like making "Bavaria" civ instead of "Germany".

It has fairly long leader list, the problem is English wiki has stupidly short articles on them (but that didn't stop many other leaders on the list, including Igbo). At least those articles exist, unlike Zimbabwean.

Leaders of Yoruba (excluding those of Benin, which as I said was part of bigger Yoruba culture)

    Oranmiyan
    Abiodun
    Orompoto
    Jakuta

That is the 18th century PG translation of his name. The actual translation is dirtier.

The Benin rulers were a different ethnic group from the Yoruba, the Edo. Benin seems to be more popular because there was a Civ5 mod by Tomatekh. I never saw a completed Civ5 Mod for Oyo Empire/Yoruba. I remember at least one modder had one planned but they never completed it before Civ6's release.

The Yoruba were already on the list, but I put them by Oyo. I've move them down to the Y section and added more leaders based on your suggestions.

I found out about 2 more Chumash chiefs: Chief Yanonali (depiction of him here) and Chief Buchon. I still think that Rafael Solares is probably the best choice to lead the Chumash but I thought that these 2 would be worth mentioning as well. Of course its up to you if you want to add them or not.

I added them. I have no problem with adding historical leaders who don't have Wikipedia pages as long as there's enough information about them in a book.

Got some more suggestions after rereading the list :3

    India: Indira Gandhi
    Mongolia: Khutulun
    Muscogee: Estajoca ( )
Italy: Conte di Cavour (a decent alternative to Bismarck)
    Bulgaria: Boris I

I don't know how or why Sayyida Al Hurra is not on the list for Morocco. She's hands down one of the best picks for a female leader PERIOD.

I didn't know who Sayyida Al Hurra was until you mentioned her. I'll add her to the list.
I still added Estajoca to the list. As a kind of joke....:p
