Hi all,

Since yesterday I've not been able to load any saves.

When I start Civ and get to the main menu, I select Load and Civ crashes:

Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program... CivilizationV_DX11.exe

The application has requested to terminate in an unusual way.

I don't even get the chance to pick a save game, so it's nothing to do with pre-post patch saves.

What I've done:

1) I've validated the install from steam (no issues, however a MB or 2 is still downloaded)

2) Deleted the My Docs\My Games\CivV folder so that it gets recreated.

3) Reinstalled the VCRedist package that comes with CivV

4) Ran CivV in Win7 compatibility mode (I'm running Win 8.1)

It's a pretty much clean build of Civ on a clean PC. I'm sure I could load prior to yesterdays patch.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

Thanks,
Mike

Found the solution on 2k forums. The Cloud saves are corrupt.

Please mark as solved.

Solution below:

-----

So what to do.

Open steam
Go to Steam--->Setting--->Downloads+cloud
Untick "Enable Steam Cloud sync"
Then Steam--->Go offline...

Then go to your steam userdata dir (in my case C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata)
Click on the numbers folder (your Steam ID)
look for the number folder "8930" (Civ V app ID)
delete everything inside (This is your steam cloud saves for Civ V)
Launch Civ V
Start a game
