Unable to start a new game

So after more than a year off Civ, I reinstalled and wanted to start a new game. It loaded until 100%, then stopped and a Microsoft send-error-report message popped out. However, I can start a game via Quick Start, or load an existing game. I just can't start a new one.

How do I fix this? I've reinstalled but the same problem persists.


EDIT: I can start a new game via the Play Last World function, but still can't use the Start New Game button. Drives me nuts.

Strange problem. Can you use 'Play Last World' and then in the following screens choose your desired settings instead of the preselected ones, of course starting with erasing the seednumber?

Yes, I can. That's what I do now.

But I still can't figure out what's wrong with the Start New Game function.

Did you uninstall and then run regedit or a register cleaner, before reinstalling? I have often had issues with apps leaving register entries and then the installs fail.

I didn't clean up my register before reinstalling. I'll try that and see if it works. Thanks!
