Playing as Gilgamesh I had his 'Epic of Gilgamesh' achievement pop up. Definitely something I was (finally!) aiming for; but alas, I actually hadn't even earned a Great Artist yet, let alone had the first Great Work of Writing.
Now you can see that Peter did have a Great Writer, but fortunately he spawned close to me, so I took him out as my first target knowing he would beat me to it; and as far as I can tell his GW disappeared with him.
There can't have been many religious Civs in the game as I managed to get a religion without trying via Peter's Holy Sites. I mention this mostly because it was at the moment I founded my religion that the achievement popped up. So maybe there is a link there...?
The only thing consoling me about this situation is that I am still on track to gaining the next GW; so should be able to fulfill the conditions this game.
