I think the unique buildimgs will work like this:

    German tank factory:
+50% production when making armored units

That's what I'm thinking - they're all of the same architectural style.

I really can't think of what the unique buildings will be for each civilization.

Maybe somekind of dock/port for the English?

I'm wondering if the UB's will be national wonders or buildable in every city (hoping for the last)

edit 18+6=24 UB's, that's going to be some job

That too - when they first mentioned national wonders I assumed they were country specific, and many of them should have been, especially ones like Mount Rushmore, or the Hermitage. Kind of weird everyone building one of those.

Would the leader of the civ end up being Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson?

Why not? Everyone knows that "two sheds are better than one."

Some ideas for civ-specific buildings, though I greatly doubt that any of them will actually be used :-
    America - burger bar
    China - takeaway
    Egypt - tomb
    England - pub
    France - bistro
    Germany - beer hall
    Greece - taverna
    India - corner shop
    Japan - capsule hotel
    Persia - carpet store
    Rome - baths
    Russia - vodka distillery
    Spain - bullring.

Note my predilection for food and drink, if you will ! The effects of these various buildings I leave to your imagination.
And no, I can't suggest anything stupid for the unlisted civs: help would be appreciated.

There's a Russian influence in your choice of French building. Supposedly bistros are called that because Russian soldiers used to shout "Boistro! Boistro!" (Quickly! Quickly!) when they had just placed their order...

You know, the Romans having some sort of unique coliseum or Aqueduct or possibly courthouse would make sense.

Yea, it seems like a national wonder would make more sense. I can't think of any regular building that wouldn't have an unbalancing effect if built in every city.

Perhaps the buidings will give you access to certain civics? The British Parliment may allow the Universal Suffergae civic.

This means unique civics. Well, this would be an easy and secure way to make exclusiv civics.
