(Unique?) Sound Issue in Civ 4

Hi,

I've recently installed Civ 4 on my machine and although the game itself runs nice and smooth, any and all MP3 files that are played are either played way too fast or way too slow (depending on all sorts of settings which are explained below). These include everything Spock says and the main menu's song thing.

I realize this might be happening because I'm trying to run the game on Win XP x64, but google and searching in various forums (including this one) only seems to find issues which are unrelated to mine (the non-MP3 sounds I hear aren't choppy or weird in any way, and all the graphics are just fine).

My specs:

CPU & Such:
Intel Quad-Core
Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz
2.00 GB RAM

Video Card:
GeForce 8800 GT

Sound Card:
AudioFire4 (external, connected via firewire)

OS:
Windows XP x64 Pro

Version of Civ 4:
1.61 + Warlords (patched to 2.08)
BUT, I also tried the 1.74 patch without Warlords and it gave the same result.

As I said, the exact speed of the sound depends on various settings.

In-Game Audio Settings:
System - Slow
Mono/Stereo - Fast
Dolby Surround - Fast
(the others don't work)

EXE Settings:
Compatability with Win XP - Fast
Compatability with Win 2K - Slow

I just want to know which direction I should go in - is this a x64 issue? is this a drivers issue? am I defining something wrong?

I'd appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks,

P.S: I attached the dxdiag's file thing.

Never mind!

I found the problem!

On the AudioFire's consol thing you can lock the sound's sample rate. I don't do it because it messes up MIDI files, but if I do it just before loading up Civ and then unlock it after I'm done with the game it all works like a charm!

Man... Weird problem.

P.S: I lock it on 48kHz, which is the recommended sample rate.
