2 short question that i haven't seen awnsered anywhere:

1.)Is it again possible to rename your units?

I loved it when f.e., one of my warrior units fought bravely against a horde of bears, to rename him to something like " Brogo Bearbiter"

2.)Will it be possible to mod new civs in?

I loved Civ IV mods with loads of new civillizations.
With those new 3d leaders isn't it kind of impossible to make new ones?
Or can we just add some background image or animation in where the leader should be?

PS.: I miss the vikings and celts in this game :(((
for me and friends they've been the most interesting ones....

I don't think its possible to name your units,

However you should be able to put this idea into a mod, a long with making some new civ's and units and what not for your mod too :).

It will be possible to mod new civs in but few, if any, will have a whole new 3d leader. Most will likely have static images or be a reskin of an existing leader. Or even just a copy of one.

Can anyone remind me how to rename units in Civ4? That and adding signs seemed to be two things that everyone in the world but me could do.

Anyway, you'll most likely be able to rename units (especially since they're more important this time around, it'll be nice to make them easily recognizable). You'll definitely be able to mod new Civs in, but the quality will depend on the talent and time of our Civ modders. Certainly, I expect a lot of reskins of current leaders, but it's possible to make a leader look quite different after the reskin.

After you select the unit, you click on where it says 'Swordsman' or 'ICBM' in the UI panel in the bottom left. Then something will popup asking you to rename it. :)

With the increased emphasis on individual units in Civ V as opposed to stacks, I think a unit naming feature would work great. Have it mirror the city namer where it will automatically select a name appropriate for the civ, but allowing you to select a unique one if you desire.

This would be especially useful given that units don't die off as easily so that first turn warrior unit is more likely to survive to future eras, even if he does get shafted by the RNG in one random battle.

With 1upt and fewer units overall I am confident we will be able to name units.

We don't know yet

2.)Will it be possible to mod new civs in?

Yes, but we don't know how will it work for leaderheads. In the last interview the designers said something about beeing able to customize existing leaderheads but we will have to wait and see.

Click on thier name on the bottom left of the UI.

You can add a sign by zooming out (to the strategic 2d layer) and then clicking on the rightmost button above the minimap.

You can also do this when at regular zoom by using the ALT+S shortcut and then clicking on the tile you want to add the sign to.

Thanks guys for the memory refresh :)
