For a long tome I've been wanting to massively name a specific type of unit. Say make every horseman, already in the game and/or newly built, take any other name of my choosing.. "mongol mangudai" for instance.
I am pretty sure this is not feasible in vanilla BTS, and have searched thoroughly into the BUG options menu where I found a section about unit naming but could not make it work as intended (as explained above this means).
Any one with a piece of advice on the matter will be welcome.
Thanks in advance!

I've never use this feature, but was intrigued to try to find info on it. I did find some info in the BUG Mod help tool, which can be found under the info folder in BAT or BUG mod folder (standalone version). Look under the "Included Mods" section. It describes a bunch of different codes and conventions one can use. Seems a bit complex so I can't tell for sure if it will allow you to do what you want here, but its the best info I could find.

oh..I found on online version of BUG help here:

Unit Naming

It is slightly different, and has some better examples of the conventions.

Am not sure if it's possible to do this for a specific unit, but going by the BUG options, it should be possible with a separate rule for e.g. "Mounted" units. I've not tried to play with it, but maybe you can make sense of it based on the link @lymond posted. There are some examples, although the syntax looks pretty weird.

Well, It actually worked guys!!! Upon your reasurance I stubbornly went again through the Bug menu window and into the "unit naming" flap found an option which openly specified a file "adv unit naming.ini" and folder within the BAT MOD that makes the trick. I found out every unit has a specific name for every era, just updated and saved the .ini file and checked the option to use in fact that file on the in game BUG menu. Be aware the change is not game specific but mod specific, of course, as it will be using the same naming options for any game, as long as the .ini file box is checked.
Great stuff.. thanks again very much.
