Unit Preview Thread: LOTR

Looks much better, I like the shield now when I can see it better, looks more solid. Very good! Only one thing, at bottom of the animation, there is some sort of shadow.

Yes, it's not there in the actual unit though.

Not all hobbit buildings have to be underground, that'll make things easier.
From: http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/default.htm

Originally the Hobbits' preferred style of dwelling, holes buried into hillsides, downs and banks. By the late Third Age, these had largely been replaced by buildings of wood or brick, but hobbit-holes were still in use by the more established Hobbit families of the Shire (for example, at Bag End and Great Smials).

Actually Hobbits still prefered the old Hobbit holes. The buildings made of wood and brick were for the most part build durring the short time that Saruman ruled the Shire. The often disgusted the Hobbits, especialy the ones that were more that one story tall. IIRC the only Hobbits to largely prefer above ground dwellings were the Bucklanders. Even then the buildings built by saruman were still disliked.

They liked the hobbit holes, but most couldn't afford them. (And they ran out of hills in the Shire). Even before Saruman took control, I believe the majority of hobbits lived above ground in normal houses.

I could be mistaken, however.

So utah what are you working on now ,if anything, or are you taking a break? Just want to know what I can expect from your talented hand.

I believe he is working on a most excellent looking Byzantine Cataphract for Xen.

Yes, Xen and I are working on putting together a Byzantine Cataphract. He wanted something with a little bit more armor than Kinboat's fantastic Cataphract.

Utah why dont you have a preview thread for it? i know Xen posted a preview in his old thread, but it deserves a thread in C&C IMO.

oh yeah and im looking really forward to see this unit:)

Ok utah, why not post a preview here, we may be able to find a use for it. Perhaps the knights of Dol Amoroth.

Should I start up a new thread for City View and other non-unit graphics?

Well should most of the hobbit city improvements be above ground, below ground, or both?

They could be both, but I'm not overseeing city graphix. just adding my opinion.

I don't have a prob with another thread. I'll just subscribe and that way everyone with misc graphix can post there. But, I am not the top of the chain in command here. Just doing what my sig says.

I am a bit puzzled...

I started working on the Numenor ship - by modifying a bit the existing Cog ship I made a couple of weeks ago.

Then, things seemed to get a little out of hand, and this was the result.

Question: Is this of any use in the LOTR as a numenor ship? (does it have too many masts - I believe so). Or could this be of any use in any other mod?

I think this ship looks quite funky still :D

I think it looks good, but I think it has to many sails. There should only be one sail per mast IMO:)
