Basically, this guy would serve as an Iron Age(which the Mesoamericans never reached thanks to the Spanish) Soldier in Aztek or Mayan armies(Or Toltec and Mayan in Far Horison's case).

*Awesome* stuff :D If only I made units...
Yes please, someone do this one.

@ Sword of Geddon: I have a few more aztec soldier pics, they aren't hypothetical iron age aztec swordsmen of course, but they could still be useful for anyone making this unit. Would you mind if I posted them?

what kind of sword does he have? shouldn't it be an obsidian sword? or will it even matter in the graphics?
or is it going to be a fantasy unit?

The sword is iron, this is a hypothetical unit, like the Industrial Legion. Basically the Azteks never used Iron because they never discovered how to smelt it(they didn't know how to smelt Bronze either btw), but give them a few hundred or so years to advance, and they'd probably have developed Bronze and eventually Iron.

If I remember correctly, the Aztecs had only just started expiramenting with bronze weapons (or was it bronze?) by the time the spanish arrived.

Here's a couple of Aztecs then. These were actually given to me by blunt3d in another thread. I especially like the one shield design seen in both pics.

Yes, Sword_Of_Geddon, you are correct--minus the shield though. The name is in my signature for those interested.

The one on the right was what Utahjazz's Aztek Musketman(the one with the very hard to spell name that begins with T) was based off of. :goodjob:
In the pic does he have a tree growing out of his back!?!?! :crazyeye:

:bump:

Bumpidy bump bump!

Just a reminder to any would - be unit makers, If you happen to need a unit to do... :D

Personally I could find this guy very useful as a Teotihuacano soldier when it's made (if it's made).

Yes, I know he's a bit advanced, but he really has that 'look' I think would be good for the armies of Tehotihuacan.

... And you're welcome ;) ... I really hope someone makes this unit.

A question, though, what would he be armed with? A sword, club, or dagger? A spear or atlatl? I think he should definately have that shield with the nifty design...

A desperately needed unit, of course. I'm not sure it should look like a character form a Zelda game, though....

Unfortunately, Meso-American units seem distinctly underrepresented in the unit-making scene.... No love for Meso-America :(

This swordsman is just one of many missing flavour units for mesoamerica --
not to mention all the missing historical units for mesoamerica (could I ever go on there!)

Of course, I know there have been some excellent mesoamerican units made in the past, but we're still lacking.

Please, Please could someone make at least this one?

Yes....PLEASE!! Another idea is to take the guy from Kal-El's Mesoamerican Knight drawing, and use it as a basis for the Swordsman instead. He has a sword that could be the logical evolution of the Aztek and Mayan Macana, only longer, larger, and made of Iron..
