Unit Request- Cataphract

Personally, I would use a cataphract for a greek or medieval scenario, as they were used by the Greeks.
Not exactly they were used by the Byzantines, or maybe that was what you meant?

Here's what I came up with... I think I'll make the red on the shield, the red on the front horse armor and the blue on the rider's pants and the headband civ-colored... Any suggestions?

Oh my god:eek::eek::eek:, it looks exactly how I want it, I dont even have any suggestions, I think its perfect. Kinboat you are an great artist:worshp: :worshp:

oh wait i have one suggestion, though you dont have to make it. But, it has 3 weapons, sword, spear and bow, you could´nt make 3 attack.flc´s where he uses all the weapons? You dont have to, its already fantastic.

Umm . . . wow! It looks sensational. Here's a suggestion, finish it ASAP! I haven't looked forward to a unit coming out this much in a long, long time. :D

AWESOME!!!:worshp: :worshp: :worshp:

I have also been dying to see this unit in Civ. The AoE cataphract was just passable (the jumping default really bothered me). This unit by Kinboat on the other hand is..well..AWESOME.

When can we expect to see it made available?

Well making all three attacks might be too hard, what with switching weapons and all... Maybe if the default has him weilding the bow. Then the first attack is shooting the bow and dropping it, Second is grabbing the lance and lunging, then dropping that then Third is drawing the sword. Actually that might look weird looping... Maybe combine the bow attack and lance attack into the first attack, then the second attack would be with the sword and repeating. Although all that might be more than I can work up, but I'll try some things. Glad you like the model... Don't know a date for completion, I need to work on some other projects that are getting neglected at the moment :)

Yeah, it looks awesome... except for the pants, which look like... ehh, too put it like this, my hippie friends would like them :D
But as I don't think it will look that spotty in-game, I think it will be really great!:goodjob:

yeah I figured that out myself, just make one attack, then we will get it faster to;)

Wow...Fantastic model!! You've really outdone yourself this time! :) About the attack: How about just the bow first and then in attackB he could use the lance OR sword? I would be cool if this unit could have a defensive bombard aswell. Which attack is the bombard attack?

Whatever you do, this unit won't be short of awesome!!

A very nice arabian(or islamic) cataphract, its a wonderful unit, any chance of you making a byzantine(or a late roman empire one) cataphract?

I guess it looks a little to persian, but afterall it was a persian pic it was made from. Im gonna use it as both Byzantine and Persian though, I think that when ingame you cant really see the difference.

very nice unit...

Well I wanted to make him different from the normal (read European) style units and I think this will make him a good replacement for the Knight for non-European civs... I really don't know if I can fit another version of this into my list so don't hold your breath. :) Glad you guys like it so far... Another note: While the Byzantines were nominally Greek or Roman, they were also on the edge of the Middle-East and a mix of all those cultures and more (the viking bodyguards come to mind as an example of the cultural hodge-podge). I think he'd fit in just fine in the Byzantine setting.

Alright, actually it is not that big a pb since they are more or less typical of Middle-East, central Asia, Eastern Med.

Not that I am gonna ask you to do one for me (although I would love to) because your list is surely pretty long but could you give us that actual list so that we know what to expect in the future (not requesting them for instance,...).
